On having a game room

I think that part of growing older is knowing that there's a time and place for escapism (e.g., games, movies, TV, etc.) and that there's a time for human connection without the interference and distraction of technology. I love playing games, but I don't want them to permeate my life, mentally or physically.

Moving to Seattle

Next week I'll be leaving the Portland area and moving to Seattle. With the demands of looking for jobs, going to interviews, finding a place to live, and organizing the move, I haven't had much time for videogames. Nevertheless, I thought I would take a moment to remind myself of how cool it is to be moving to one of the best videogame cities in the world.

The top 10 Xbox games according to me

Read blog postI consider the big black beast to be a truly "dead" system—there sure aren't any more games coming down the pipe for it, and I've had ample opportunity to track down and try every game for the system that caught my eye. My Xbox has been packed up and in storage for months, and I'm feeling pretty good about calling this my definitive list.

Army of Two impressions

The best thing about Army of Two was that the characters looked like the Jason twins from Friday the 13th, and being able to play co-op is always a plus in my book… besides those perks, there’s really nothing exceptional or interesting about the game.

The best game I've haven't played yet: Operation Darkness Edition

Werewolves + Rocketlaunchers > Nazi Vampires. And if they're not, god help us all.

Endless Ocean Impressions

Spent the last day or two playing Endless Ocean on the Wii. There have been a few low-stress ocean-exploring games over the years, but this is by far the best of them.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village Impressions

Just finished Professor Layton and the Curious Village on DS. The art was great, the music was excellent and overall the presentation was utterly charming… There’s a refined, very Francais Triplets of Belleville thing going on.

How NOT to do DLC

Recently I wrote about Overlord for the Xbox 360 getting a new downloadable expansion for the singleplayer campaign called Raising Hell.
