Despite the minor nitpicks, this is a great game that has sleeper hit written all over it. The guys at Headfirst Productions certainly did their homework and researched the material before making the game. The end result of their labor is a rock-solid videogame that almost perfectly captures the dread, majesty, and sheer abject terror of Lovecraft's world.
Game Description: Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is a spine-chilling story with classic survival/horror gameplay, where you face evil that seems impossible to stop. Set in the 1920s, you'll be thrown headfirst into the world of H.P. Lovecraft's famous Cthulu mythology. The storyline brings to life all the unthinkable evils, psychic possessions, and mythical worlds it pioneered. Draw upon your skills in exploration, investigation, and combat while battling evil incarnate.

More than anything else, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth truly captures the dark, oppressive and even hopeless feel that many of Lovecraft's stories have in common. Walking through the town of Innsmouth in Jack Walters's shoes was exactly the way I had imagined it to be when I first read the source material, and as Mike says, the attention to detail and small touches of realism help embellish the experience and make it a (mostly) believable, immersive adventure.
Game Description: An epic RPG on land and at sea based on the Disney film, using the pirate game Sea Dogs as the basis of its buccaneering., Designed as a thrilling blend of role playing and action Pirates of the Caribbean takes place in a large group of Caribbean islands during the golden age of piracy and high seas adventure. You will take command of a ship and its crew, swordfight with other captains, accept and complete daring quests, chase rumors of dangers and riches, and change allegiances amongst the colonial powers in the game. Through skill and daring, you will have the ability to obtain more power than the toughest captains in history ever dreamed possible. You will be able to customize your captain, crew, skills, and attributes to their individual liking. During shore leave on the many fanciful islands, players can interact with townspeople and shopkeepers to replenish stores of ammo and crew, and explore the wilderness in search of adventure and treasure. A party based system on land and at sea allows you to hire friendly captains to form small fleets of ships for trade or battle, and your own band of adventurers when on land.

When a movie reviewer sits down to watch the movie he's supposed to write about, he's relatively certain that it's not going to break down halfway through, and then need to be watched over again from the beginning. Book reviewers can be pretty sure that the manuscript they're sent by the publishers won't be missing the final chapter. Because I'm reviewing a video game, though, I was forced to experience the equivalent of both these things when playing Pirates of the Caribbean.

If Morrowind is any indication of where The Elder Scrolls series is headed, I would say that it is certainly moving in a positive direction and I am very excited to see what will happen with The Elder Scrolls IV.

Players can kill people, bribe them, soothe them with some smooth talk, or simply steal whatever it is they need. The game thus often feels quite lifelike, which only adds to the immersive quality of the experience as a whole. This is where Bethesda has really improved upon standard game design and structure.
