Video: Final Fantasy VII's steampunk city of Midgar recreated in Minecraft

Thanks to an Xbox 360 port, Minecraft has finally gotten into the eager hands of creative console gamers. But as creative as they may be, they have a ways to go to match what PC gamers have been creating (and posting) since Minecraft was in beta. A perfect example of this is this recreation of the steampunk city of Midgar from Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII. Minecraft forums user CJ_Campbell has unveiled his labor of love (along with some of his other non-Final Fantasy VII works) for our admiration and envy.

Well, E3 is upon us again. While a tsunami of new game info is pouring out of LA, I'm not sure that anyone will have time for this little old blog, but it's still business as usual for me until PAX later this year. The convention always falls on the first week of my son's summer visit, so I haven't gone to the last few. Family > E3, but I will be watching all the press briefings!

The Ocarina of Time's Hyrule recreated in Minecraft

Going by the reception of Nintendo's 3D update of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, there is much love for the Nintendo 64 classic even today. So it's not surprising that a group of very dedicated and talented fans got together to recreate that world in Minecraft.

Video: Tetris "recreated" in Minecraft

Someday someone is going to post a video of someone actually playing Minecraft and not just recreating games from his or her childhood. That said, this is pretty impressive. It is done is stop motion—the Tetris field is not a real game but footage of a simulated game—and given the sheer effort it would take to pull something like that off, it is worthy of at least a look.

Tired of seeing Minecraft user-creations? Too bad cause here is another one! Minecraft forum user Garified, constructed not one but two UNSC frigates in the game—one large-scale and one a bit smaller—modeled after Halo: Reach's UNSC Savannah. After the impressive recreation of a scale model Star Trek Enterprise that made the rounds earlier in the life of Minecraft, this Halo ship is no less impressive.

But I think the Minecraft fans need a challenge. How about a scale model Omega Supreme or maybe aim higher and recreate Unicron? No prizes are guaranteed for all of your hard work, but I'm sure the entire Internet would shower you with nerd points for pulling it off.

Video: Star Trek fanatic recreates Starship Enterprise in Minecraft

Some of you may have heard about a little game called Minecraft. It's all the rage among anyone who has always wanted to live in a real Legoland. Some of the creations have been incredibly creative. Take this guy in the video below. He has created a 1:1 scale model of the Starship Enterprise. Yes, the Starship Enterprise. At 1:1 scale.

As of the posting of this video, he was asking others to help him complete his project. Given the current nature of the video game culture (and the Internet), the Enterprise has probably since been reduced to a pile of rubble by "helpful" griefers. But that doesn't matter because proof of its existence has been recorded for prosperity.
