Every time I hit the Power switch, I'm reminded of why it is that Sony's cult platformer has won so many hearts. Quite simply, no game is as unfailingly happy to see me as LocoRoco, and I really can't help but beam a smile straight back at it.

If I was to reduce Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror to a mathematical formula, one way of looking at it might be: Sam Fisher + Solid Snake - Distinct Personality = Gabe Logan. However, in terms of gameplay, it might be more like Kill.Switch + (Splinter Cell - stealth) + (Metal Gear - wackiness) + (Action x 2) = Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror.

When I reviewed the first Untold Legends game a year ago, I commented that the hack-and-slash dungeon-crawl genre hadn't advanced very much since its inception. Therefore, I was surprised at how widely Sony Online missed the mark with their game, given that the basic "successful" formula has remained unchanged for years. Although the newest installment in this series, The Warrior's Code, improves upon the rampant boredom and series of errors the first title committed, the positive gains are only incremental.
