Treasure Planet – Review

There have been a few recent licensed games that surpassed expectations, but even the bad ones don't seem to be as rancid as they once were. A great example of a new-age attempt at making the leap from big screen to small, Treasure Planet certainly has its flaws but remains a pretty decent offering.

War of the Monsters– Review

People in the 1950's were scared. The world at that time was a different place, and America had a host of things to worry about. Capitalizing on the feeling of imminent doom, filmmakers of the era played upon the things that kept people up at night and turned those fears into box-office gold. Concerns over rapidly advancing science materialized in the form of mutants terrorizing innocent townsfolk. Deep-seated distrust of technology surfaced in runaway robot features, and perhaps the largest phobia used as a theme was America's fear of Communism.

Ratchet & Clank – Review

While playing Ratchet & Clank, I found myself having a difficult time justifying to others why I thought it was a good way to spend my time. What's the point in playing platform games nowadays anyway?

Ratchet & Clank – Second Opinion

Gene brings up an interesting question of perspective. But, in contrast to his thoughts, I was trying to justify to myself why I was playing Ratchet & Clank. I had passed up several opportunities to play the game's full version after being unimpressed with the demo handed out at E3. Specifically, I was totally apathetic to the by-the-numbers character design, and the idea of collecting "stuff" while dodging enemies, and jumping pits has lost some appeal over the years.

Sly Cooper And The Thievius Raccoonus – Second Opinion

My overall reaction to Sly Cooper was almost the same as James, the difference being that I enjoyed the game just a bit more than he did. Sly Cooper certainly isn't the most original or innovative platformer to come along in recent memory, but it's one of the few titles that really stand out in my mind. In keeping with the 'thieving' theme, the developers at Sucker Punch went about 'stealing' all sorts of good ideas from Metal Gear Solid and infused them into one of the most charming new platformers to come out this year.

Wild Arms 3 – Review

Gamers expecting something dynamic and involving will most likely find Wild Arms 3 to be a rather trite and staid gaming experience. How much enjoyment a player will get out of the game depends largely on how they feel about the genre in general.
