Suikoden Tactics – Consumer Guide

Brad Gallaway's picture

According to the ESRB, this game contains: Mild Cartoon Violence, Mild Language

Parents don't have much to fear. I honestly couldn't remember any instances of language as was mentioned on the back of the box, and the level of violence in this game is so mild as to be practically nonexistent. Characters hit each other with swords and other weapons, but there's absolutely no detail to anything, let alone blood or gore. This game is about as intense as watching a puppet show, so any kid who can stay awake through this dull gameplay experience will most likely emerge just fine.

Suikoden fans (are there any, anymore?) can look forward to a pathetic story, incredibly crude graphics, and a very slow-paced game. This installment is based around some of the subject matter from Suikoden IV, if anybody cares. It's not a very impressive tactics game, and adds absolutely nothing to this rapidly-crumbling franchise. Players might want to check it out if they're absolutely hard-core, but otherwise there's no reason to spend money on this.

Tactics fans find themselves in the fortunate position of having many other choices available on shelves today. I might have recommended this title a few years ago when tactics games were about as scarce as hen's teeth, but with a good number of alternatives readily available, this game isn't even in the running.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing gamers will have no problems. There are no significant auditory cues, and all dialogue in the game is accompanied by text.
