Parents should be aware that the game is rated E for everyone, and that the only objectionable material might be the fights between players (these can be turned off in the menus, however).

Hardcore hockey fans are advised to pick up NHL 2002. The sheer amount of depth to the game, the number of modes, and the insane amount of customization all combine to make this a title loaded with replay value.

Casual hockey fans will also find much to like here as well, as the game can be played in-depth, or you can simply click "just play" and go. However, more casual fans of the sport will probably want to rent this and NHL Hitz 2002 before committing to a purchase if for no other reason than to see if the latter titles more arcade-like gameplay appeals to them. Finally,  

Gamers with friends will no doubt want to grab some extra controllers in order to take advantage of the Xbox's 4-player mode.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing gamers will naturally miss out on the in-game commentary.
