Interview with Black Forest Games on Giana Sisters: Twisted World

Interview with Black Forest Games on Giana Sisters: Twisted World

The Great Giana Sisters is a game with an unusual history, but what started off a flagrant imitation of Super Mario Bros has evolved into a successful platform series. Designed by the now-deceased founder of Black Forest Games, the company has finished a Kickstarter project to release a brand-new game for the series that will serve to celebrate the original title's 25th anniversary. Freelancer Christopher Floyd spoke to the team to get the skinny on the benches that morph into coffins, "chiptune metal," and the full story on Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams.

Dysfunction with Dishonored and diggin' Dokuro!

Dishonored Screenshot

Speaking of games which weren't quite home runs, I have to admit that I'm shocked to say that Dishonored isn't floating my boat. I loved the demo at PAX and it has all of the elements that should appeal to me, but now that I've been sitting down with the full version... it's just not clicking. It's just not coming together. It started well, but it's gone... cold.

State of Play with Brandon Bales: Edmund McMillen (Full Interview)

Get ready for an awesome two hours with Edmund McMillen, creator (and co-creator) of some amazing titles over the years, including the recent hits Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac.

In this open, honest interview, McMillen dishes about his role in Indie Game: The Movie, his influences, his thoughts on business, the origins of his games, and much, much more.

Our thanks to him for sitting down with us. Enjoy!

TouchTalk, Volume Four

Grabbity Screenshot

Welcome back to a semi-regular feature here at GameCritics.com: TouchTalk. While this series was inspired by one of my old features, the Bargain Basement, I've got an all-new focus for an all-new phase in gaming. Instead of highlighting discounted gems in the used section of a retail shop, I'll be reviewing downloadable mobile games and apps that you might want to check out… and maybe some that you'll want to avoid.

Double Dragon Neon Review

Daddy, What's a Mixtape?

HIGH RoboDragon!

LOW Unskippable cutscenes in a game meant to be oft-replayed.

WTF A giant tank? Thank god I trained for this!
