not really. I don't really like racing sims. I've always been more of a Need for Speed guy.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Nov 24th
As i'm not done with GT Legends, GTR2 and rFactor, it makes no sense to buy another racing game. And rFactor 2 will have more cars and more importantly much more tracks, so if i spend time on a more recent game other than those i already have it will be that.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Nov 24th
I'll wait for reviews to see how good the game is after all. Then I'll decide if I get GT5 or F1 2010.
More than 1000 cars sounds impressive, but 500 of them seem to be variations of Imprezas, Skylines and similar Japanese cars.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Nov 24th
Yeah 1000+ cars fully modeled, I'm sold no matter what. I love racing sims and building cars and playing with my friends online. And yes lots of cars are variations of different models, but thats what shines about GT. They have Asian, Europe, and North American models. There are hundreds of cars that would never make the Forza roster, not to take anything away from that amazing series. But to drive some cars that i used to own when I was younger is great. I am also a huge fan of the Japanese sports/racing cars so in GT I will get to experience more variety then say a Forza which is very North American. Crackajack I understand how playing multiple racing games is no good, its takes way too much time!

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Nov 24th
I am so pumped for this game.
I skipped out on GT4 because they axed online play, and this seems to bring that and a whole lot else. I mean, go karts?
I'm not a huge racing fan, but Gran Turismo just has this really unique appeal for me. Definitely picking it up.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Nov 24th
I thought this game's release date was pushed back to December 26th. I don't know why they would do such a thing though.
If this game is coming out tomorrow, I'm buying it.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Nov 24th
Anyone got it already?
I'm considering buying it because of the split-screen mode, since Dirt 2 doesn't offer that.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Nov 24th
I don't have a PS3; I own an Xbox, so have to make do with Forza 3, which beat my initial expectations as 'just' a GT clone.
I'd definately have bought it if I was able to play it... but I've heard that only 20% of the cars have proper damage modelling, as the other cars have just been adapted for this game from previous versions. Which would sort of cheapen the deal for me.
I definately prefer the GT series to Forza though.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Nov 24th
I picked the game up yesterday, and have played about 3 or 4 hours worth. This game is drop-dead georgeous at 1080p, with a solid 60fps. Polyphony Digital really knows how to sqeeze every ounce of power from a console, and GT5 is no exception.

afaik it's stretched 1080p (1280x1080), similar as every XBox 720p (or lower) game that says on the box it supports 1080p.
But as long it's gorgeous that's fine.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Nov 24th
GT5: Prologue has a 1920 x 1080 setting, so there's about a 99.9% chance that the real GT5 has it as well.

The game still renders at native 720p with 4x multi-sampling anti-aliasing (MSAA) when your XMB is set to 720p mode, while the resolution shifts to 1280x1080 with 2x quincunx (QAA) when the 1080p mode is engaged. So we're not seeing anything like native 1080p resolution here, but you are getting a 50 per cent increase in the number of pixels rendered.

As it is explained in this rather lengthy tech-analysis the 1080p mode is indeed not "full" 1080p. However, it seems to be very impressive altogether.
At least I think it looks gorgeous.
