Re: What are you playing right now?
Oh, also Split/Second. Started again from scratch. What a fantastic game, easily my favourite racer of this generation. A real shame the developers went under, as the mechanics or the game itself are practically flawless. I would have loved to have seen how they would have furthered the gimmick of controlling the environment around you to stall your rivals in a sequel.

Just started Spec Ops: The Line; I've only played an hour or so of it, but there sure are a lot of dudes to kill!

Jet Grind Radio- (DNull Dreamcast Emulator on PC 1080p)
omg- I forgot how f*cking incredible this game was. It's too bad the cast never caught on more in the states. Beautiful, bright, smooth graphics.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Been indulging myself with GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony. I'll give a full summary of my thoughts on it when I finish it, but I'm enjoying it, simply due to the fact Rockstar are great at making engaging characters in their games. First realised this with Red Dead Redemption, and this game reinforces my opinion. The player character, Louis (think that's how it's spelt), is dull, and constantly contradicts himself with his actions, making him incredibly difficult to even tolerate. But Gay Tony is a brilliant character- not a stereotypical gay character at all. It's a joy watching the cut scenes he is in. Whilst the story in this episode is ridiculous, over the top, and generally just an excuse for equally ridiculous and over the top antics, I can't remember seeing such a convincing "downward spiral" situation in a video game character before. A special mention goes to Mori- he's hilarious! I haven't been so amused by a game character since... well, Nigel West Dickins in RDR. "Check. Mate. ... See ya!"

Re: What are you playing right now?
Finally, over a year since I finished the game, I got the Pure Bladestone from the black phantom in Demon's Souls. I must have made that run hundreds of times (I went from level 80-ish to 198 in the process) and didn't get a bean (PB has a 1/200 chance of a drop).
Then he dropped 2 in a row.
So if anyone is looking for a pure bladestone (and is a ridiculous soul level), let me know.
The big problem now is that it opens up the Platinum as an attainable target. Very daunting.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Ghost in the shell: Standalone Complex(PS2)
Played this years back after having seen the feature films, but not the anime.. didn't make much of an impression.
Years later, and having become a stalwart fan of the animated series, playing it now it seems like a pretty respectful game. Minus the show's great music, it's a nice run and gun platformer. I like how the characters are kindof indestructible. It's definitely balanced in favor of ease of play. That and all the details from the series and that it supports progressive scan make this a good title imo

Re: What are you playing right now?
Messing around with the Madden demo, a little bit of Madden 12 in anticipation.
I am in a games-playing funk.

Re: What are you playing right now?
I have returned!
Firstly from a long holiday and secondly to Dark Souls in order to prepare to die for the prepare to die edition coming out tomorrow. And die I did. Lol I'm awful at that game
I spent most of the time yesterday getting the timing right for parrying and died more often than succeeding with a parry. Trying a new character which is more dex-based with Rapier, hornet's ring, redstone and (crystal) magic weapon for good crits.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Batman: Arkham Asylum on hard mode. Pretty sure I said this about six months ago, but this time I'm persisting. Wanted to prepare for the GOTY edition of City, that I've pre-ordered and will be receiveing in a few weeks.
It's not actually so bad on hard mode- you don't get the warnings when to counter when in hand-to-hand combat, but I'm used to this now. The hard mode seems to kick into place when stalking armed enemies, but even then, it's much more satisfying taking down bad guys with guns now than I remember.
Just not looking forward to the bit near the end, with the lunatics jumping at you out of nowhere. It's well documented on here I hate being made to jump, and I'm dreading it. Such a great game though, I'm willing to stick with it through that.
Will also be starting Dragon Age again soon, hopefully to finish it. I'm thinking an elven character this time, as I've only ever made significant progress with a dwarf on here before.
