How to speed up PSN downloads ALOT

Using the Privoxy App and changing my wireless settings to use my PC as a proxy server for my PS3, I went from 1MB a minute download to 1MB every 5-10 seconds. Big difference!

PSN downloads are slower than via Live or steam? Never noticed that.
The Killzone 3 demo was quite big and was finished imho fast.

Speed may depend on model of PS3, I guess.

Im in Luray VA, hardly a high traffic hub. But I do suspect the service providers throttle the crap out of PSN.

I hear people complain about the speeds of PSN and I just shrug my shoulders. I'll admit that it is a little slower than live, but only barely. I've actually timed it. I simultaneously downloaded the soul caliber demo on both XBL and PSN. XBL finishish only 1 min faster than PSN. However, after the downloads, PSN needed to install the demo where as XBL had installed it during the download.

EDIT: I have the MGS bundle 80 gig ps3 (last of the backwards compatable..woot..) and non-slim xbox arcade. Also, I live in between Danville and Martinsville VA, 15 miles from either city, out in the country. Not a lot of internet traffic.

today my PSN wouldnt accept the proxy address so I spent an hour fiddling with settings and am now back to my pre-proxy configuration, but the PSN downloads are still faster than they were.

Can't explain it, and I have no idea what changed. I set a QOS rule on my router to give the PS3 priority awhile ago but it never seemed to do anything.

Why don`t you try to change the wireless channel of your router this might help if the there is too much noice in the one it uses

PSN downloads have always been on the sluggish side for me, but I figure its just an effect of being on a slow, inconsistent connection. The fact that it's a wireless setup doesn't help either, probably. It's a bit of inconvenience, but nothing that hinders my ability to download stuff off PSN.
