Review length?

Hi, I was just wondering about how many words to shoot for with our submissions. I looked through the review template and several other related pages but couldn't find any info about this. Thanks!

Re: Review length?

I think the rule of thumb is 1500 words.

Re: Review length?

the length should be no more than 1000 words, but sometimes they'll let you slide with more as long as the review flows good and doesn't drag on to long.

Re: Review length?

If you're submitting a user review try to shoot for around 1000 words. However, we're flexible on that (longer or shorter) if the content of the review merits it.

- Mike Bracken
"I always aim for around a thousand words without the title and disclosures. This is a constant thorn in my side, since most of my shit comes out at around 1500 words the first time around..."

That is probably what I was thinking of.
A lot of people seem to write about 1500 words naturally, and trim it back to a thousand.

Re: Review length?

I'd say as much as necessary (to get to your point(s)).

"Proper", comprehensive critical evaluations might get 3000, 4000 or even above 5000 words long. Depending on the game. A standard racing game can be done shorter than e.g. the genre crossover Spellforce. But those are really detailed texts were the reader is in search for information to every aspect of a game and not only a focused opinion on the main points.

I always wrote about 2000 to 2500 words and polished it to 10000 characters (probably 1500 words) because the site were i submitted some reviews limited it on that number.
