1. Smoke 'em if you got 'em
Don't be afraid to use your grenades and syringes. If you're like us, you like to horde these things for a rainy day. But don't bother. Opportunities to replenish your stuff are commonplace. In fact, that's the whole point of doing recon before attacking: you'll know exactly where you can get more syringes and grenades.

2. Offroadtrip!
Use the railroad tracks and rivers to get around. They don't have as many guard posts along the way. They're also faster because there are fewer twists and turns, and you're less likely to encounter trigger happy soldiers out for a Sunday drive.

3. Bring on the night
There's almost never any hurry in Far Cry 2. So before tackling a well-defended position, fell free to take a nap at the nearest safehouse until the sun goes down. It's easier to move around undetected at night.

4. Fun with fire
The enemy AI will try to flank you, but it won't do it through a brushfire. Cover your flank by setting a fire. Before an attack, light a fire to start a diversion. You've got all those Molotov cocktails for a reason. Be on the lookout for propane tanks and ammo piles that that'll make even more of a bang.

5. Don't bring a peashooter to a shotgun fight
Before taking on any of the storyline missions against well-armed soldiers, do a few convoy intercepts for the merchant at the armory. This will unlock higher tiers of weapons. The more involved faction missions will be a lot easier if you have a couple of powerful guns that aren't going to fall apart.

6. Diamonds are a guy's best friend
It's especially important to pay attention to the diamond tracker if you're not doing faction missions, as this will be your main source of income. And in the occasional instance where you seem to be standing right on the location of a case of diamonds but you still can't see it, look up.

What would be helpful to me guys would be what the additional packs do on page 4 of the online shop, for instance I bought the light assault ammo pack assuming that I would be able to carry more ammo for my silenced mp5, but it's not the case. Now I could just be missing something but I'm really needing more ammo and cant seem a way to get it, as money is rather scarce at the minute only 12% through. Also a diamond location map would be handy, I think I have around 12/13 of them at the minute. Has anyone managed to get online yet with it ?, I have tried but have had no luck and I'm loving the game engine and it could well fill in some time before Cod 5 comes out, my ps3 ID is Sneakmeister if anyone wants to add me. Loving the game I think it's fantastic !!!!!!!

7. Use your sound.. if you are attacking a position, turn your sound up so you can hear footsteps. Stay low and move from cover to cover, each time you pause, make sure you know where the threats are. (Be aware.. the enemy will do this too! Sometimes glancing quickly to your flanks isn't enough.. hostiles will hide behind trees and flank you to get a better position.) If you are stealthing, remember that sprinting can make a LOT of noise.

8. Headshots. Enemies can take seemingly thousands of bullets before they die, one bullet in the head should drop them. If you're finding it tough (and don't have a scoped rifle,) use the silenced 9 and remember that the shot hits a little ABOVE the tip of the sight. With a bit of practice, this gun take guys out from further range than I would try with an assault rifle!) If you cap them in the head and noone sees you shoot, stay still for a 5 seconds while the enemy looks to see where the shot came from, then relocate. Enemies spot movement quite easily.

9. Dart rifle. Silent and deadly. Best for taking out the guys who are likely to see your approach.. be warned it only has a few darts (how hard is it to carry extra darts ffs? Especially as you can carry two spare rockets).. but the marksman bandoliergives you four extra. (yes Sneakmiester, the bandoliers do give you extra ammo, not sure which one for the Mp5 though) It takes a while to get that though.

10. Fanboats make great sniping platforms.. enemies will spot you straight away if you are driving the boat with the engine running, but if you hop off the drivers seat and coast around a corner.. they are unlikely to notice you right away (if you are far enough that is.) The camo suit will help here too, as you can cap several guys with a dart rifle and not get spotted, fire up the boat and cruise away.

11. Marty is my best buddy. He's so cool.. one time, I used 3 syrettes but he died in my arms. I loaded a save from four hours previous because it's just not the same if Marty's not there for me.

12. It annoys me that you have to chamber a round or cock your gun if you are reloading with an undepleted mag. In real life, you can switch mags without cocking as long as a round is chambered.

13. Can't wait till I get paid, I'm going to buy a fat ounce and smoke the whole thing!

14. Approach guard posts on foot. Even if you think they haven't spotted you, if you see ONE guy moving quickly, chances are that they are setting a trap for you or even flanking you.

15. Public transport is for pussies!

16. If you are just starting out and wondering what weapons to buy, knowing which 'slot' weapons use is good for planning your kit in advance, particularly considering some might surprise you;
Dart rifle- Special slot
PKD LMG- Special slot
Flamer- Special slot
MP5- Primary slot
1903- Primary slot
M79- Secondary (pistol) slot

17. If you see blue smoke.. one of your buddies is injured, you can heal him or mercy kill him (depending on how annoying they are.)

All my buddys are dead you would of thought they would of got out the way when I fragged all the Jeeps, they make great bombs vehicles by the way.

Some diamonds are on top of roofs and in high places that I can't seem to get to - does anyone know how to get them (maybe I'm missing something really obvious lol)

Don't know about all, but for some you can drive your vehicle up close and use it for a sort of ladder to get up on top of the buildings.

To the guys asking how to get the seemingly impossible diamond cases: Usually if you can't get up somewhere, there's a hang-glider on a mountain/ridge nearby.

Hi, are the hidden Gold AK's on the PC version - i went to a location (found it on YouTube) and there was a normal AK there but not a golden one. Cheers

For a lot of hard to reach diamonds, I always take a truck or a jeep, use it to jump onto the roof and then onto the hard to reach area. For some, aas has been stated, you just need the hangglider

lol!. at the back of the house, there will always be some crates you can jump on, to access the roof.

When you but the camo suit do you automatically put it on because it doesn't change what your hands look like.

i killed marty for his desert eagle now regret it. how can i get him back???

I've had to pass over 2 diamonds so far that I couldn't get to. I even tried standing on the jeep but not high enough. Haven't tried using the hang glider yet, hope it's worth more than 2.

Once your buddy is dead, that's it. Unless you saved before he died.
