Re: Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana
Yeah, I was playing in a while ago but I never finished. I probably about 15 or so hours into it and then I just lost the motivation because I wasn't reviewing it.
I really liked many portions of it, especially how simple the mana system was and I did think that there were several humorous parts that I appreciated. However, a lot of the game felt like pretty standard RPG stuff and it didn't look like they were going to be any big changes in either the storyline or gameplay.
When I'm playing a game and new mechanics stop popping up, I start to lose interest. If the story isn't strong enough by the time the developers run out of steam, then I usually bow out unless it's an assignment.
It's a pretty solid little game, but I have cooled off on RPGs quite a bit in the last few years and I really find that I can only sit through the best of the best these days-- life is just too short for mediocre RPGs.
If I were going to review it, I would probably give it a seven based off of the 15 hours that I saw. It's not the best game out there, but it does beat out more than a few of its competitors. People who are still hot for RPGs will probably get more out of it than I did.
