New Review Posted: Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

Brad Gallaway reviews Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, and asks a worrisome question:

"Is the Game Boy Advance dead? It may be easy to think so with all the post-E3 talk of next-generation systems, let alone the current struggle between Nintendo's new kid on the block, the DS, and Sony's eye-candy PSP. However, there are still a few GBA nuggets worth looking at trickling onto retail shelves. The second of Nintendo's long-running strategy series to be released stateside, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, is one of them."

His thoughts continue here.

Talking Re: New Review Posted: Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

interesting that gamecritics is the only one that coincided with my sentiments regarding this game... everywhere else keep on gushing praises such as: this game is amazing, blah blah blah (LOOKING AT IGN! ESPECIALLY AT IGN!)

and aside from what was said in the review, i really disliked this game for its lack of creativity... i don't recall seeing as many scenery-presented-in-pictures scene here (which were only shown during the ending of THIS game) as compared to the last game. and to think that this is the third GBA fire emblem game...

also, the attack animations of the main characters, as well as the new classes, were WAY boring! what happened to the flashy (albeit over the top) attacks of Lyndis, Eliwood and Hector? Why did Eirika and Ephiraim maintained the same attack animation even after being equipped with S class weapon? and the critical attacks? all they have for indication of critical attacks were the spinning of the weapon before commencing the blow! i'm sure i'll be way stronger if i spin my sword before i swung them at my opponent! had obi-wan been doing that he probably might've defeated darth vader!

and lastly, the characters (especially the lords) were very uninteresting, not to mention most of the recruited characters were just a face-changed version of another character in the previous game (e.g. colm = matthew)... the only character that gave a hint of personality (and even then his character was not developed) is joshua, IMHO... and IGN was saying that this game's strong point was with it's interesting characters? Oh C'mon!!!
