New Review Posted: Rave Master: Special Attack Force

Tera Kirk samples Rave Master: Special Attack Force, and finds it an interesting, if unfamiliar taste:

"Konami's Rave Master is better than I expected. Granted, I have no experience with the anime that inspired the game and very little with fighting games in general, so my expectations were pretty low. Did Rave Master blow my mind with the awesomeness of virtual swordplay? No. But it wasn't bad, and it has made me more interested in the fighting games, if only because there are surely shinier examples of the genre that I'm now itching to play."

The rest of the review is available here.

Interesting take on the game, but I would suggest the reviewer take a look at Power Stone for the Dreamcast as a better comparison. They're much more comparable. And when doing so, make sure to check out the original rather than the dismal sequel. While the game is about six years old, when played with that kind of perspective, you'll probably find that Rave Master is very derivative of that kind of 3D brawler rather than Tekken.

Man, Power Stone kicked so much ass when I first played it on my shiny Dreamcast. Rest in peace, ol' buddy...

Interesting....

And I'm glad someone besides me preferred Power Stone over its sequel!
