New Review Posted: Tekken 5

To kick off another sequel week here at GameCritics.com, Brad Gallaway reviews Tekken 5:

"Let me be honest: When I reviewed Tekken 4, I thought that it was the end of the line for a series that I had known and loved. It was dark, claustrophobic, and everything about it rubbed me the wrong way. I found myself unable to get into the game or even enjoy it very much. I was sad to see the franchise sink so low, and I wondered how it could feel so lacking in every respect. With the announcement of Tekken 5, I was prepared for a by-the-numbers sequel only adding a few new faces. Now that it's here, I'm quite pleased to say that unlike its predecessor, Tekken 5 is anything but uninspired."

The tale of redemption continues here.

Re: New Review Posted: Tekken 5

I'm going to agree with you on most everything here except for two things. One, the final boss in incredibly cheap. Between his accelerated recovery moves, that damn fireball that chops 75 percent off of your lifebar, and that move where he "steals" some of your lifebar and puts it on his... needless to say, Geese Howard and Shao Khan have competition now.
Secondly, you say that the female's skimpy clothing isn't that bad? Hello, did you see Nina and Anna's P1 costumes, or Askua's hidden 3P costume?
Other than that, yeah, you hit everything right on the mark. I still think Tekken Tag is the best in the series, but 5 isn't too far behind...

Re: New Review Posted: Tekken 5

im going to buy this game, if only for the included Tekken 3 arcade game

Tekken 3 is the best from the series for me so far (haven't played 5 yet)

I think Tekken Tag is slow and doesn't feel nice

Ferarriman sez: I'm going to agree with you on most everything here except for two things. One, the final boss in incredibly cheap.

Jinpachi is really cheap, no argument there. He reminded me of the boss from one of the DOA games.. it was basically the same thing. i thought he was pretty cool looking, but yeah.. not very much fun to fight against. still, it was just a small part of the game overall, IMO.

Secondly, you say that the female's skimpy clothing isn't that bad? Hello, did you see Nina and Anna's P1 costumes, or Askua's hidden 3P costume?

well, *i* didn't think they were that bad... then again, tastes vary. ; )

thanks for the words!
