New review posted: PsiOps: The Mindgate Conspiracy

I review PsiOps: The Mindgate Conspiracy, and like it despite my growing antipathy towards colonated titles:

"Apparently the good people at Midway noticed that there was a genre going unrepresented on the video game store shelves: the Evil God Simulator. To fill this void, they offer PsiOps: The Mindgate Conspiracy. It may not have been intended as an Evil God sim, but that's certainly how it plays, and I for one am ecstatic that it does."

Other than feeling slightly uncomfortable about my use of the word 'Ecstatic', I wholeheartedly enourage you to read the rest of the review here

Good review and thank you for reminding me to actually play this game--I don't recall buying it yet there it sits, six feet to my left.

But I digress...

Since someone -- probably someone new to this site who found their way here via a link to the Fable review -- is likely to ask, I'll go ahead and save them the trouble.

Does the 8 you gave Psi Ops mean that it is twice as good as the 4 you gave Fable? Or is the Gamecritics system more like the Richter scale and Psi Ops is actually 40,000 times better than Fable?

I just had to ask

and yes, that is a rhetorical question. LOL!

Edit: And yes, I do realize that my 40,000 is an incorrect calculation of how the Richter scale works, but I didn't want to confuse people by leaving out the "4".

Ah, you caught - I despise the intellectuals even as I secretly want to be one of them. It all goes back to junior high, when all the intellectuals sat at the cool table, and no matter how much I begged or pleaded they'd never let me sit with them. So one day I took a nail gun and I... You know what, maybe I should hold off on finishing this story until I look into which countries Canada has extradition treaties with.

As for the game - actually, we might want to consider some sort of exponential rating system, because it really is a lot more fun than Fable. I mean, there's a bit in this game where a guy throws train cars at you. Who could have a problem with that?

Now see..

Psi-Ops has been on my (enormous) list ever since it came out, but it keeps getting pushed back. Guess it's moved back into a "frontish position," especially because being Queen isn't enough for me.. It's time to move on to Goddess-hood.

Thanks a lot, man.

*ARGH*

I need more free time to play games!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I played both versions of the game, and mentioned the only differences in the consumer advice section, which is why there's no 'this review refers to the * version of the game'.
