Chi Kong Lui reviews Rise to Honor

"The designers seem lost in attempts to diversify the gameplay and trying to create memorable scenarios. Rise to Honor never really goes beyond the linear 'if it moves, kill it' school of repetitive gaming."

Why is this the first high profile game that's been reviewed in weeks? I know that many less popular games are worthy of a review, but so many mainstream ones (whose reviews could have been quite insightful) have passed under gamecritics' nose in the last couple months, you might as well call yourselves mostlyobscurebutoccasionallyhighprofilegame
critics.com.

Hurry up and review MGS:Twin Snakes, already! And maybe Max Payne 2.

Twin Snakes review is on its way, but not for another two weeks. We had a Max Payne 2 review being written by a guest critic for weeks, but it was never completed due to scheduling conflicts.

Don't forget this week's update includes Drakengard. Next on the queue is Hitman Contracts, FFXI and Fight Night 2004. What else have we missed?

We reviewed Manhunt, Ninja Gaiden, Sonic Heroes, Mario and Luigi, Lifeline, Breakdown, Project Gotham Racing 2. What else are we missing?

um....how about....

The Suffering? That could make for an interesting review, considering it's loaded with gore and harsh language.

And what about....

You know. The one...

...with the stuff.

We got that one covered as well. Look to Gene for that one in the coming weeks. Plenty of stuff being covered, just on our own speed. Best things come to those who wait.

The way some people are talking, I'd say the kitchen sink.

Excerpt from the review: "While the kitchen sink is nothing worth looking at, it serves its purpose very well."

Though the only big-name game I can come up with (after, naturally, cheating) is Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles.

thanks for the great review, chi. i was considering a buy since i really liked the control scheme when i played the demo, but now i'll definitely rent first.
i hope this illogical and unsatisfying partitioning of gameplay styles which you mention isn't becoming a trend. but True Crime seemed to sell well, and now this...i'm worried.

Thanks for reading. Renting is a good idea. Its not a hard game and can easily be beaten in 3 or 4 long sittings. The control scheme does rock. The game has its moments and my 5 rating indicates that the game is playable and partly enjoyable. Hopefully there's a better sequel or the engine is utitlized in a better game. Does anyone know how this game is selling?

One of my favorite quotes from E3 last year was the following:

"They should rename this game 'Rice For Honor' and make it about drag racing CRX's."

Who can remember which of the GC Critics made this hillarious comment?
