New Review Posted: Tales of Legendia

Jason Karney reviews Tales of Legendia, and likens it to some other recent Namco titles:

"Namco caught my eye last year with some solid role-playing games, such as the ambitiously space-operatic Xenosaga and the innovative, card-utilizing Baten Kaitos. I found Tales of Symphonia to be a particular standout, so I was eager to see what this year's Tales of Legendia had to offer. Rather than a game that relied completely on its brand name, I found a colorful role-playing game (RPG) that stepped up to the challenge of providing a unique experience compelling enough to keep me in front of the controller to the end of the story, despite some smudges around the edge."

So how much better was it than Steambot, you may ask?

Re: New Review Posted: Tales of Legendia

Thank you, Jason, for your marvelous review. If only I had time for the so-so games, as well as the good, and the great games.

I picked-up and played a lot of ToS on your suggestion, and perhaps one of these days, when ToL is a Bargain Bin price, I'll pick it up, too. I noticed that one of the things that endeared me to the former was still in the latter: cooking. I have /no/ clue why I enjoyed that so much, but it did. I'd /love/ to finish all the games I've started--maybe I will, maybe I won't. Perhaps I should just treat it like a Zen thing and be over it. Enjoying each for the time I've spent with them. Then again, I have so many I've not even started, and now I've got this GameFly sub.

Truly, there's no rest for the wicked.

The RPGs are calling Hypatia! Give in to them! Let the cliches and overly large anime eyes wash over you!

I surely can't be the only non-jaded JRPG gamer around these parts. (well, me and Jason).

I can also confess to an obsession with cooking part of the Tales games. I was annoyed with the limitation on cooked items in this game. Unless I missed some secret accessory that allowed you to carry all the food in the world, in which case, I shall have to play this gem again to find it!
