New Review Posted: Exit

Then Brad offers his thoughts on Exit as an encore:

"Without a doubt, the next generation of hardware should be pretty fantastic from a technical standpoint—and by extension, the games should be too. These superpowered machines are more potent than ever, and it's pretty clear that the stakes are being raised for developers who want to compete; the market is being driven towards an endless cycle of must-be-a-blockbuster. However, what about indie developers and people with new ideas, or those working on a shoestring? In the coming days of mega-content and greater emphasis on details, online modes and maxing out all the bells and whistles, is there any room in the marketplace left for small studios and niche titles? There just might be on portables."

What does that have to do with SPP? Find out here.

Re: New Review Posted: Exit

Bravo, Brad. I love Exit. I'm a hugh fan of the Prince of Persia / Flashback - style controls, and this game is a very enjoyable iteration of that which utterly hits its mark.

Is it just me or is the PSP finally getting some decent software after a long dry spell? Mine was collecting dust for months but suddenly there are like 3 or 4 games I want. MGA2, Mega Man Powered Up, and Capcom Classics Collection Remix (w/ Speed Rumbler!!!) to name a few. And when those PS1 games start rolling in for download, I'll be getting more than a few.

Looks like my PSP wasn't a total waste of money after all.

And I thought I was the only one who loved Speed Rumbler. It plays great on the PSP (especially with the analog nub), and the music is every bit as awesome as I remember it being.

Also, I feel obligated to mention Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror in every discussion about the PSP's recent surge in quality titles. This game hit me out of nowhere. It's astonishingly good, and every PSP owner needs to give it a try.

Damn! I need to get CCCR. But I'm still not finished with Exit and I just picked up MGA2. :P I guess I'll pick it up in a few weeks.

Thanks for the words!

Also, i definitely agree that the PSP is finally coming to life. it's been a very sloooow start, but there's a lot out that i want to play right now. in addition to the titles mentioned, i just finished Daxter last night, and that's a AAA experience on the PSP. very satisfied with that one, and cooking up a review right now.

Re: New Review Posted: Exit

I started playing Exit today via Gamefly and so far so good. I'm about 15 levels into it (out of 100) and I have to say that for anyone who loves side-scrolling environmental puzzle solving, this game is a must. It's got a bit of Prince of Persia to it, an ounce of Lode Runner, some old-school Wrecking Crew, well. You get the idea. It's just cool and the difficulty curve is perfect (from what I can tell so far).

Definite thumbs up!
