And I actually just went and beat the Taurus Demon on my own SL1 character just now. I am terrible though, it took me three tries and I can neither parry nor backstab. I don't think this experiment will last long.
Ha ha, I haven't been playing it because a) I was going on holiday and b) I may have messed it up.
The only real Big Bad I killed so far is Ornstein & Smough (and how sweet that was!), but I'm down in Lost Izalith now. I joined the spider covenant and opened the shortcut down there, but then I got a bit carried away and went straight through to Bed of Chaos. I've cut off one of her arms at this point.
The issue may be: I didn't kill the Flame Demon (the flying vanguard-type thing) or the Centipede, so I didn't hook up with Solaire at that bonfire over there. I was thinking I would just go around to him through the dinosaurs but of course I have no Charred Ring to get through the lava! I'm wondering whether he will still be there if I kill Bed of Chaos? Or even if he is still there now?
If I don't talk to him there, he won't appear at Gwynn, I believe, and I have zero chance of taking that fight without him.
Maybe I will try those bosses today and see if he is still around.
Gwyn is harmless, as long as you can Katie. I mean parry. I had Solaire with me some times with Gwyn and he wasn't that much help, especially since summoning a NPC increases his Gwyn's health and mostly just makes the fight longer.
I didn't manage to get to the EG expo, since too much work-related nonsense piled up that week without warning, making it pretty much impossible to just enjoy an afternoon chasing demons. Well, I guess I'll see it on March 14th. I pre-ordered the PS3 collectors edition.

I won't be doing any multiplayer anyway. I hear they have made it much harder to backstab, and easier to summon, so there's that.
Hmm, I'm kinda observing a blackout on this (after all, this day two weeks we'll be well immersed in it, all going well). I watched the first question about 'disappointments' - I guess the fast travel could mean that the levels are linear and aren't joined together using that 'verticality' we're used to. A shame if so, but not a real cause for alarm. Torn whether to watch the rest...
