Shadows of the Damned
Anyone playing it?
I finished it this morning and thought it was great. Too bad it's selling REALLY bad. I find it funny that these japanese designers try to appeal to the western audiences and then completely fail to sell their work.
It will be a cult game in 5 years (and an expensive one on ebay).

Re: Shadows of the Damned
Not playing it (yet) since I have plenty of games to finish before I should think of buying new ones... but it's on my to-do list

Re: Shadows of the Damned
You can't imagine the stuff I bought and still have to finish: LA Noire, 3D Dot Game Heroes, the Back to the Future saga, Sands of Time...
I promised myself not to buy more games until I've finished all of them. Well, I did pre-order Dark Souls but hopefully I'll be uncompleted games free by that time.
It will be hard to resist Limbo, ICO/SOTC HD and RE Revival Selection, though.

Re: Shadows of the Damned
It's a shame it's selling bad. The reviews were lukewarm for it, the videos of seen, and its pedigree, tell me that regardless of reviews, I'm probably going to love it.
I am one of those 20 people that actually liked Killer7, and if it's anywhere near as crazy as that, it's my kinda game.

Re: Shadows of the Damned
I played through the game twice, and it's pretty good, but I was expecting a bit more from the story; unfortunately, there's no real sense of build-up to the final boss fight, and Garcia's interactions with Johnson lose some of their steam as the game gets near its end.
All in all, though, it features great music, great gameplay, great characters, a great sense of style, etc. etc. Glad I bought it.
@FigdetyAcolyte
I actually liked Killer7 a lot too, but Shadows of the Damned isn't the same kind of crazy. Interestingly enough, though, you might feel nostalgic playing SotD, because some of its sound effects and gameplay mechanics seem to me like they were heavily inspired by Killer7 (just to name a few examples; Garcia screams magnifico or fuck you while executing an enemy, his Hot Boner is quite similar to Dan Smith's own Demon Gun, the enemy design is reminiscent of the Heaven Smiles, etc.)
Also, I like the (controversial) dick jokes. I think most of them are either unpretentiously clever or charmingly naive, and they fit the game's tone perfectly. I also like the twist on Garcia's macho attitude when you find out more about (and reflect upon) the true nature of his relationship with Paula.

Re: Shadows of the Damned
Yeah, it's much more conventional that Killer 7 or even NMH, but when compared with the rest of the titles out there, it's a breath of fresh air. I also didn't find the humour offensive - and there's actually some fine writing in it.
The sound design reminded me a lot of Silent Hill 2, go figure. :P
Oh, and I have to admit that Garcia is pretty hot.

Re: Shadows of the Damned
I noticed it's one of those rare games that don't have a white male soldier-type or androgynous teenager as hero. Still have to finish AC2 and Metro 2033, after that I'll head for hell.
