Been listening to Xentrix's first album a lot today. They are a British thrash metal band (great British metal bands are not exactly common, the only other great ones I can think of are Onslaught and Evile), and terribly overlooked. I only came across them by accident.
Shattered Existence is an excellent album. It's kind of like Metallica's ... And Justice For All, except SE has balls, and you can actually hear the bass.

Their album "Sung Tongs" is wonderful for this time a year. I haven't done any scientific testing, but I'm nearly positive that listening to it will melt any snow within a 50 foot radius.

Another great band from the 90s. I listen to this album a thousand times when I was in high school. Lots of cool ambient noises going on. Headphones recommended.
