Here's a marketing tip: introduce yourself to the community and participate in forums before pimping out your game. You'd get better results that way.

Re: New People, Please Introduce Yourselves
Hello, I've been browsing Gamecritics for a while, and have posted comments with the name Bryce (not my real name). I've been checking here often as it seems the only site with honest reviewers. I imagine the honesty has a lot to do with the mission of the reviews: state your personal opinion instead of trying to qualify what the masses should think of it. It seems an unpopular approach, though, from all the hate comments on reviews. I'm hoping to help the community where I can and possibly submit some reviews (Don't worry, my serious writing doesn't contain any parenthetical statements).
I have been a gamer since my parents brought King's Quest home for our new PC, though I didn't lock myself in the basement all night until the infamous Doom came out. I played that game, modded it, played it some more, dialed stranger's personal BBSs for an IPX emulator, then got banned from almost all of them for trash talking (Well, how else was I going to get a 3v1 going?). It is now 15 later, and thanks in part to crippling allergies that didn't go away until I was 18, I got in a lot of gaming, mostly PC. My career has nothing to with gaming (the common tie between my career and gaming is probably my restlessness), but gaming will always be my #1 indoor hobby. I find myself becoming incredibly hard to please after 20 years, though.

Re: New People, Please Introduce Yourselves
I'm guilty of lurking I guess.
Thanks to the Halo 3 review I stumbled over this site and thanks to the Halo 3 review and some others I read then I decided to stick around a bit. Because of the writing and since I felt it refreshing to see a site using other numbers than 8, 9 and 9,5 to rate games.
I'm currently only having a PC and a DS to play on, using it mainly for WoW and Professor Layton respectively. I'm still too cheap to buy a PS, not because the PS would be too expensive but because I don't have a TV, therefore I would have to buy one as well...
I live in the Netherlands and do my PhD in electrical engineering here (about 1 more year to go).
The whole doing PhD is the reason not buying a telly, since that would be a huge timesink for me and I'm already busy restraining myself from playing too much on the computer (I should cancel WoW again I guess).

Re: New People, Please Introduce Yourselves
Noob here from California. My roommates and I have a PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. Clearly, we have an addiction.
I'm actually trying to cut down on my time gaming (gasp)...and so I joined this forum to hopefully learn how to choose how to spend my gaming time more wisely.

Re: New People, Please Introduce Yourselves
Hi everyone.
First of all, i'm from Austria, so my english will not be the best you've ever seen. Nevertheless i will try to contribute some posts here and you will hopefully help me if i phrase something totally wrong.
I'm going towards 30, though still some years in my twenties.
I started gaming with a NES. Afterwards followed by every console Nintendo had to offer, except Virtual Boy (may god rest his soul ), additionally a Master System i got gifted from a friend.
Since Colin2 i kind of shifted from console to PC-gamer. The PC robs the most of my free time.
Anyhow wii and PS3 are there to "waste" some extra time with.
I don't like J-RPGs, every other genre has my interest.
With growing age and own game history increasingly more games can not live up to the hype mainstream sites want me to believe in.
So i registered because i like this sites unconventional approach on scores and the epic discussions in conveying the stupidity on belief in the right score instead of arguments.

Both I'd say, but mainly I needed a change of scenery after studying in Graz. And beside the terrible weather and horrible food it's pretty awesome here. Also I have to debunk the myth that someone from Tirol will never be happy in the Netherlands because of the lack of mountains

Re: New People, Please Introduce Yourselves
Hello,
My name is Dale and I've been an avid gamer since the olde days, before the archaic form was subordinated by 'old,' therein the 80's. I just stumbled on this site and am glad to have found a niche of mature (in gaming context) gamers.
Coincidentally, I am recovering from a long break from gaming brought about by encroaching social imperatives and a growing disillusionment with current-era gaming. This site has already done its share in reviving my love of games. Nice to meet you all.
