You should try the whole album. Sounds like Fennesz meeting Reznor on Brian Eno's head. Frost's new album is coming up. It's called "By the Throat" and it has the most beautiful cover. Check it here: http://bedroomcommunity.net/Site/bythethroat.html
Thanks for the great music suggestions. I'm old school Industrial and have been out of the loop of new stuff. Always love hearing new Industrial. I kinda like the mainstream sound too. After listening to bands like Sister Machine Gun and Screw, who may be technically Industrial but their style is so rough and without melody that anything more than a couple of play-throughs is inviting a headache and nothing more. The music can be loud and noisy, but if it doesn't mesh then its just a waste.
Not an album but i'll get to that in a second. I'm loving this right now, Tiesto Ft Tegan and Sara - Feel it in my bones.
Which leads me onto album suggestions. If you like Trance, i'd serieously consider listening to any of the many Tiesto albums, they all have something to offer and in honesty I can't pick a favourite to suggest. His new stuff is more melodic, while his old stuff is alot harder. Either way, check him out.
And Tegan and Sara. I've heard they're pretty big in the states, but i thought i'd suggest them anyway. My personal favourite album is So Jelous. Its one of the best acoustic rock albums i've heard in a while, and their live album "Its not fun, don't do it" is a damn good listen. Infact its mainly live versions of the songs from So Jelous.
And while i'm on it. Check out Against Me! They're one of the best live acts i've ever seen live, not particularly because they're the best live band ever, but because they create an amazing atmosphere. They have a song featuring Tegan Quin (from tegan and Sara) called Bourne On the FM waves of the heart, which is why I just thought of them, its a great tune as is the album its from; New Wave. I'd also suggest checking out their first album Reinventing Axl Rose. Just, brilliant feel good music, with actual meaning in the lyrics. Zomg.
There you go, there was a point to me posting the link after all. It all came together in the end
I've been listening a LOT to the new A Place to Bury Strangers album. It's called Exploding Head and if you're into shoegaze, these guys mix Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and Joy Division in 3 minute tracks.
I'm also rediscovering this forgotten post-rock band called UI. Sounds like Tortoise but more funky.
I think they played here a few months ago and I forgot to go.
Pretty good. I downloaded a few songs on iTunes.
You have great taste in music, man. Blonde Redhead, Coil, Skinny Puppy, Plaid, Boards of Canada, etc. We should talk more.
I'm still waiting for the new MBV album, like for 15 years. Ahah. Saw them live this year at Barcelona's Primavera Sound Festival. But the best concert was from Sun O))). If you're more into the drone stuff, you'll like it, even if it looses a lot of the raw power of hearing them live.
Wow. Thanks for the recommendation. I'm always into spacey-shoegazy-post-rocky soundscapes. Reminds me of Ulrich Schnauss, Dextro and the unavoidable BOC.
I've just finished watching Greenaway's A Zed & Two Noughts and got intrigued by the music from the making of. It reminded me of Tangerine Dream. It's from this prolific composer called Tucker Zimmerman. It was all analogue synthesizer stuff, but apparently he's mostly known for his singer-songwriter acoustic work. Now let me see if I can find some mp3 files.
I'll check out Dextro. Ulrich Schnauss is someone else that I could have seen, but forgot about.
It has been kind of a rough year for me. I haven't been able to go to as many shows or clubs.
Hey abfackeln,
I've just noticed that I've been listening to this same record again and again: Aufgang - Aufgang. Two grand pianos and electronics. Since we have similar tastes, I though you should check them out.
