Post Re: Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Soulstorm Tips, Help, Tricks, Hints, Cheat Codes, Stra

a good idea for ig is to use ogryns and karskin together both equiped with a preist and use their fanatical power whenever nessecary also a command squad full of preist would do well to aid your units, i used this and managed to defeat four blood thirsters although i did have the help of 2 leman russ (who died when the demons got in close not much of a suprise really) and a little help from my ally, but they really didnt do alot

Re: Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Soulstorm Tips, Help, Tricks, Hints, Cheat Codes, Stra

i have good fun wth all races (especaly tau and eldar) and therefore know good tactics for all.

chaos. cultist squad to take posts(they are usles at fighting never rely on them.) build a squad of marines then genarators ect till u hav a good enuf defence and good recorce(by this time you should hav done both you upgrades)from your sacred circle do sorcerer upgades then build one(trust me he will destroy anything that come near him) then and then start building ur obliterators preadators and khorn then tada! youv crushed your enamy(you can have your bloodthirster come out but i dont like him cuz he is slow and dusnt give much flare in battle)

tau. (easy to use) just make fire warriors hammer heads and broadsides and youl win easy(dont need to detail that 1

eldar.(my fav) first thing to do build a webway portel near your base and hav cloak on it(always build webway portels after that to keep all you buildings cloak the enamy wont come at you with deceters until he is ready to proper attack) like chaos make guardians and make them caputre things and also build generators.
upgrade your things make ur soul shrine then get your relic. build an avatar back him up with a farseer(attatch to a full seer council) and lodes of howling banchees. for tanks id advise wraith lords there punch agenst outher tanks and flamers will realy help you against the enamy.

this is the main part of the stratergy. use your bonesingers teleport to get near you enamys base(but far enough so they can survive) build a webway gate and cloak it. put all your troops in there then march your avatar and wraithlord towards the middle of there base. then let the webway gate let its men out and charge. they shouldnt last long against all those swords and flamers.

ty for readying(if u managed to read all that lol

Eldar are the best faction as they can end up dealing devastating blow and also they look really cool if you plsy as eldar try to keep a strong defense then build an army and blow everyone to hell

Tau are probably the best faction they start off a hard to balance army but there vehcils help control that e.g the transport carriers for the tau are invisible to the enemy so build a few of them pack them with fire warriors send them to the enemys hq.While your in the hq dont empty the soilders keep them in the transport as it helps kick in an aftertouch and the enemy wont attack you for some time.If you play as the tau be prepared as the space marines are hard to beat playing as the tau.

agreed about the necrons, if you can get teh monolith out, its pretty much over, is a slow moving fortress with powerfull weaponry and you have your units teleport to it on the move

Re: Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Soulstorm Tips, Help, Tricks, Hints, Cheat Codes, Stra

To be honest, I reckon the Space Marines nail everyone really. Ok, they're not the cheapest of units and perhaps not the most interesting and diverse race, but their general infantry are awesome and can adjust on the bounce to tackle almost anything. The Eldar have squads which are awesome at some stuff but absolutely awful at everything else! Space Marines have awesome firepower, and are generally good in close quarters.

Terminators, well if you match them up with a couple of Dreadnaughts then you're onto a winner. The only race I really ever struggle with fighting is the Eldar because they are fast and have lots of cloaked units. There are very few units in the Space Marine army able to detect them and you can get butchered if you don't get your Librarian out quick! Also, reinforcing is a problem because all the units are so expensive.

I would have to say that Tau is the strongest race in the game. Those early fire warriors with the snare happy tau commander are disgusting and then you throw in thier awesome tanks on top of it in tier 2 and they can pretty much wipe the floor with anybody.

2nd most powerful i would put as a three way tie between Orks, Eldar and Dark Eldar.

True, the Baneblade isn't invicible; no unit is! However, if you give it two Leman Russ Tanks as escorts and maybe a Basilisk to provide long range support, it will last a lot longer.

Thumbs up Re: Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Soulstorm Tips, Help, Tricks, Hints, Cheat Codes, Stra

A good stratagy is on the Dark Eldar base they expect you to build a base in the very middle, even though you don't have too. If in the cages you have a formidible offence then use it to take out the small southern base before you rescue your workers. Then move your workers to the area are build your base of operations there. Also (i'm not sure if it was a glitch or not) the Dais dosen't actually come all the way to your base! It just sits there. And while it does, you can just amass a huge army and just head out and destroy it. Pretty neat huh? But if that dosn't work and it is just a glitch, it is still a better place to create your base for there is only one entry which you can heavily guard instead of having to split that up into two or three groups to guard two or three different spots.

Talking Re: Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Soulstorm Tips, Help, Tricks, Hints, Cheat Codes, Stra

Here are my tactics for each race...

Space Marines:
Attack: Make alot of Space Marine squads and max them out with heavy weapons (usually 2 Heavy Bolters, 1 Missile Launcher and 1 Plasma gun).
Defence: Two words my friend, Heavy Bolters.

Orks:
attack: Max out your number of Flash Gitz and send them in with either a few shoota boy squads or a looted tank or two.
Defence: Anything works, as long as there's alot of them.

Tau:
Attack: Make all the way through the tech-tree to the etherial. Then make his body guards. If your playing Dark Crusade then you can make as many of them as you want, but if your playing Soulstorm, they limit you to 1, which sucks. Then make some Hammerheads, some Fire Warriors, Some XV8's and XV88's, Krootox, and your ready to march.
Defence: Since they don't have turrets, just any unit with a ranged attack.

Necrons:
Attack: I don't really have a tactic for Necrons, I usually just send out everything that I can get my hands on.
Defence: Since Recruting them is free, a heap of Necron Warriors.

Eldar/Chaos/Sisters of Battle:
Attack: For all these I just mainly get to the mega unit (Avatar/Bloodthirster/Living Saint) and go out and kick their anus.
Defence: What beats a heap of turrets? Not much...

Imperial Guard:
Attack: I usually send out a heap of maxed Guardsmen squads, Kasherkins, Ogryns, Lemon Russ's, and possibly a Baneblade.
Defence: Always, I repeat ALWAYS use Heavy Weapons teams for defence when possible.

Dark Eldar:
Attack: Just send out everything that can actually use to attack!
Defence: A heap of warriors, mandrakes and your Haemoncules.

Overall Tips:
Always, max out your squads, never send out half made squads.
Never, send out your commander, especially for orks because you have to wait until you have an Orky Fort to reinforce him.
Always, have a unit that can detect infiltrated units in both your offence and defence armies.

Hope u got somthing out of that. reading that must have taken a while...

Re: Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Soulstorm Tips, Help, Tricks, Hints, Cheat Codes, Stra

One of the Koolest cheats eva is when ur playing as the Sisters of Battle. Make a listening Post on one of ur relics or stratigic points. Then click on the holy icon button costing 25 req and 0 pwr. Then cancel making it for 65 req and 25 pwr. Keep doing this and u've got infinate resources!!!! You can make another holy icon when the other one is actually made and do that one making it for 65 req and 25 pwr, and canceling it for 105 req and 50 pwr. It's GENIOUS!
