Rate This Review: Fallout New Vegas

To be honest, I don't care how many people have come up to me and have said, "Mayhem, dude, trust me, Fallout 3 is so much better and Fallout New Vegas just looks like horse crap." I am in love with the game. Bethesda knows how to draw a crowd in, and I can't think of any other games that they've made that weren't Fallout, or Elder Scrolls. I know that they've made some, but right now, I am dedicating this to Fallout New Vegas, a beautiful game set out in the wasteland of the Mojave Desert.
You start off as a Courier, delivering a platinum chip to some guy in New Vegas. Long story short: A person in a checkered coat (whose name is Benny) and a couple of people that he has hired, take the chip, shoot you in the face, toss you in the wasteland, and leave you to die. Only 5 minutes into the game and you've already almost died. This proves how much of a challenge this game will be in the future. You're saved by this robot named Victor, who belongs to this one fellow who is the big cheese of The Lucky 38 casino in New Vegas (whose name is Mr. House). The whole big mission in the game is to find Benny and return the favor, but that's only scratching the surface of the story because, like all of Bethesda's games, they seem to just never end.
The graphics are astonishing, just like any Bethesda game is. Only problem is that the mouths don't mouth that much out of the few cut-scenes that there are, and the barriers on top of mountains do make it a drag to get over (thanks for fixing this in Skyrim), but besides that, it is excellent.
The leveling up system is the most advanced and most simplistic leveling system I've seen in any game. It's specific right done to the bone of it, and certain skills pay certain bills, especially in Speech challenges, which can range from Bartering speech to Medical speech.
Choices also affect the world around you. If you choose to kill a friend, then you will lose reputation with that certain faction and if you lose enough reputation, they will start to hate you.
The music is always great. 1950's music that sounds happy until you read the lyrics fits the mood just perfectly. The monsters all scare the crap out of me, especially Deathclaws! Gunshots are great though they are sometimes delayed (comes with the lag most of the time which is a pain in the rear) and the voice-acting is top notch.
In short: This game is severely awesome, and is recommended for anyone who loves challenges, and a game from the RPG masters themselves. If it wasn't for all the lagging that pissed me off during certain spots than this game would've easily gotten a 9/10 but for now I give this game an 8/10.

To be considered for rating by the editorial staff, you need to follow the guidelines established for the site-

Review guidelines here: http://www.gamecritics.com/forums/an....php?f=10&a=29

And also good idea to check out the F:NV reviews already published on the site.

Hope this helps!

Hahahaha, this is fantastic. I can't help but read it in Butt-head's voice. Personally, I'd give this five stars, but "professionally", I can't give it more than one star. So I'm just going to average that out and give it a three, I love it! If I had my own review site, I'd put this up in a shot.
