Non-linearity shouldn't be the holy grail for all games, in my opinion.
For games like GTA or Morrowind, it's great , but Ico didn't need it, just as Ridge Racer and Contra don't need it.

I think The Getaway sucks. The driving parts are actually decent, and I admire the effort that went in, but the out-of-car sections have such bad controls and camera angles that it RUINS the game....

I found the hover-bike racing in Battle Toads much, much harder than anything else. Especially in 2 player mode. The other person always messed it up for me.
