Re: PC FPS users are A BUNCH OF GULLIBLE WUSSES!!!

This is just "honesty" you've stumbled upon. Memories + Emotions = Fun being a human. When other people recalled their experiences playing HL2 I remembered more about my own. If you want to rail...

Re: PC FPS users are A BUNCH OF GULLIBLE WUSSES!!!

I did beat the game on hard, which I clearly said in my last post. I also am taking back some of my comments from my first post. You are right about the med packs. What I originally said was...

Re: PC FPS users are A BUNCH OF GULLIBLE WUSSES!!!

I went overboard, it is more dynamic than that. You are also right about using the environment for cover, I completely ignored that and it is a big part of your second to second strategy. So I have...

Re: PC FPS users are A BUNCH OF GULLIBLE WUSSES!!!

I agree with most of his points too, although I don't share the same attitude. I disliked HL2, although I didn't hate it with a passion.

The problem is that to have good gameplay you need to...

Re: Manhunt debacle and how im tired of being treated like a little baby

If you create an E rated game and are willing to pay good money that still doesn't mean Nintendo/Sony/MS will let you put your game on their console or on their online stores. If this is your...

Re: Nintendo Plans to Increase Wii Production

I think I gave 3 reasons why Nintendo might think delaying Wiis will maximize profits (production costs, newer models, strategic timing). I'm also making the distinction between "will delaying Wiis...

Re: Nintendo Plans to Increase Wii Production

Nintendo deliberately 'refused money' before by limiting supply of the DS phat before the DS lite was released. If they think for whatever reason not selling Wiis now will make more money later...

Re: Another reason why Zelda: TP failed

Yes, Link's Awakening did come out after Lttp btw.

I think one can disregard the objective quality of TP itself and come to a conclusion by just examining the context of the series when TP was...

Re: Kojima not keen on Wii

Yes we all remember how Factor 5 did some amazing things and maxed out Nintendo's hardware. In fact Factor 5 released all their N64 and GC games within the span of 4 years (99-03). In the 4 years...

Re: Expanding the Market

If we are talking in very long term then I disagree. I think video games will become a larger market (proportionally) down the road. I remember reading somewhere that the average age of gamers is...

Re: How do you feel about racist yellowface voiceover?

In modern life people don't always sound like what their ethnicity may lead you to believe. If you meet an Asian person in the west there is a very large chance they weren't even born in their...

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!

This sounds a lot like me. For most of my life I would have said RPGs were by far my favorite type of video game. I finally gave up with the genre though after I bought big name RPG after big name...

Re: Favoite Indie / Dojin Games

Imperishable Night, a Japanese 'bullet barrage' shmup. It is both an indie and import-only title, how out of the mainstream can you get? I think I've been playing the demo levels for 2 months and I...

Re: Gamefly -- ???

I like the idea and remember looking into it myself but it seems too expensive. The 20 dollar subscription fee means you have to rent 2-3 games a month for it to be worth it, and play some of those...

Re: Nintendo Wii: Prediction Thread #3

By 'outsell', do you mean counting all consoles sales from Wii's launch date onwards or are you giving the 360 a headstart in the count?

Re: $60 Gaming

The thing that bothers me about $60 games is that the cost is due to graphics. I already feel that developers are guilty of pushing better graphics in favor of better games. Paying the extra $10 is...

Re: Where Are the Game (et al) Critics?

Wow, this thread is becoming a magnet for every great article written on the subject in the last couple of months ;-)

I surveyed all the movie critics before seeing 'Pirates' but ended up greatly...

Re: Where Are the Game (et al) Critics?

The people this Esquire writer was quoting had valid points, but I don't think the writer himself really understands what he is talking about. I think he makes a false connection and then somehow...

Re: Portal

I think it is more interesting as a puzzle game anyway. In a pure puzzle game you can get away with expecting the player to learn from previous puzzles and to be patient when they can't figure...

Re: Best Videogame Cover Art

Well, just going off game boxes I own I would say my favorite cover art is from 'Secret of Mana':

Re: In need of gaming fix.

You really need to give us more information. What consoles *do* you own? An idea of genres you have in mind would help too. If your PC isn't that great then nothing recent on the PC is for you.

Re: Half-Lfe 2 Episode One

Why HL2 is considered so great probably varies from person to person. I can only guess based on my own experience with the game. The times when I said to myself how *unbelievably* good the game was...

Re: 5 COOL games

I guess my definition of cool is going to be cult classics that I bought and loved way back when they were new releases:

Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts (SNES)
Super Mario RPG (SNES)
Shadowrun (SNES)...
