Re: Best Games of 2014

Everyone! There's a Steam Sale on, so pick up a few of this year's games on the cheap and have a nice gaming December.

I just picked up Shadowrun Dragonfall Director's Cut and The Banner Saga...

Re: Best Games of 2014

Shadowrun Returns: Dragonfall is definitely on the list.

I've just been looking at what I've been playing this year; I've only finished 16 games so far, which is low for me, and a lot of games I...

Re: What are you playing right now?

Bills fan? I feel for you :) Chargers here, who have been competetive at times in the last 15 years but have been pretty ineffectual even when they have had championship level teams.

I haven't...

Re: The Rise of the Ubigame

Wow. I haven't read any of the Dragon Age reviews so I had no idea this is the direction Bioware have gone in. That's just incredibly awful.

I guess this all ties in with the thinking on games...

First batch of awards incoming..

The I'd Rather do my Shopping Award
Any 'Ubigame'. I like that there's a genre descriptor for these games now, where you have to do a long shopping list of...

Re: Best Games of 2014

Highlight of the Forum year :)

I'm very conflicted this year and this will take a lot of thought. It is possible that I won't have a game of the year this year ;)

You've reminded me that The...

Re: What are you playing right now?

I've seen this advertised quite heavily recently. I'm starting to think fantasy football is impacting my enjoyment of the actual games though, as I have a couple of teams going in very competetive...

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!

I would say go for the DLC (though I haven't played it or intend to play it). LOTF is a completely different game, there is no comparison really.

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!

Lords of the Fallen (PS4).

Everything in Brad's review (http://www.gamecritics.com/brad-gallaway/lords-of-the-fallen-review) holds true, but I don't think they severely affected the game, which...

Re: Scary Games

Hmm, that's a pretty perceptive comment.

The tension in Demons was brooding and oppressive, while the other games it is a scripted fright. Totally different.

I meant FEAR, I haven't played it...

Re: What are you playing right now?

Goatart is like my video-game-taste doppelganger.

Ah, I see. Thanks for that.

Agree also on Isaac - only played a little bit but the control scheme is offputting to me. I also don't...

Re: What Are You Reading Right Now?

@Goatart - well said

@Crackajack - I don't think the nutshell thing is a common phrase, it was the first time I've heard it.

I am reading The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. It's a...

Re: Scary Games

That's an interesting one - Demon's Souls was definitely creepy/scary. I wonder what made it different to Amnesia etc? It couldn't just be that you had mooks to kill as you went along, as Dead Space,...

Re: What games are worth playing to the end?

To The Moon has a nice resolution to the plot, and is easy to get to because it is such a short game.

Deadly Premonition had a good ending (before they messed it up in the PS3 re-release), but it...

Re: What games are worth playing to the end?

Great call. Even though I wasn't mad about the game, and the ending was not the one I wanted, I can't argue that it was one of the best game endings and totally worth playing through to see.

My...

What games are worth playing to the end?

So we all know that the story/emotional/other payoff at the end of games is normally pretty terrible - you're left thinking, that was a bit rubbish. Like the Devs said, no one is going to play this...

Re: Post here when you beat a game. I mean it!

I finally hooked up an Xbox controller to my PC, and launched Big Picture Mode in anticipation. Of course, it turns out that a large part of my Steam library doesn't offer controller support (at...

Re: What are you playing right now?

I traded in Alien (there's only so much hiding in a cupboard one person can take) and bought Lords of the Fallen and Fifa.

Lords of the Fallen (PS4) seems to be good. It's not very like Dark...

I am playing Alien Isolation at the moment. My last play session yesterday morning ended with me hiding in a locker for ten whole minutes wondering what I was going to do next. At this point I'd...

Re: What are you playing right now?

I don't know, and I dunno if this is just Gamestop - the games had Gamestop-specific (I presume) DLC included, maybe that was it?

Alien Isolation was actually cheaper on the PSN Store (€70) than...

Hi Snowmew, welcome!
