Re: Work Comic Ever!

Sorry, been busy and I'm just now seeing this.
Seems I have blinders on.

I don't have a worst comic. Some consider mine "the worst" because being rude and vulgar is part of the premise for a...

Re: Your Top 5 Must-Play Downloadable Games?

No love for Machinarium?
(I beat it last week and loved it.
Best $20 bucks spent this year).

NyQuest is good.
(good up to the end, then it becomes a tweaking game)

Final Fantasy Crystal...

Re: Avatar 3D

Joe, on paper, yes it is. I won't deny that.
By definition that is exactly what Avatar is.
However, it's a better version of that tale done right.

It looks good and the story is executed...

Re: Avatar 3D

Yes, it was good.

Not great, but it was solid and that's good enough to support the visuals -- which is really what that matters here (as many of the critics have said).

The story was a solid...

Re: Game of the Decade?

Dramund, good point.
However, the flip side is that Japanese characters - as noted above - hardly ever look ... Japanese. They use so many American model types that for a while I wondered if they...

Re: A nice place to visit but...

Good question, but in a way the limitation might help. SHSM for the Wii tries way too hard to incorporate everything into the motion controls.
1 - move the flashlight around (which moves you...

Re: A nice place to visit but...

Update Silent Hill Shattered Memories:

Frustrating controls.
You're in the dark you want to move the flashlight around to see the area, but when you do that it also moves the character (since the...

Re: Game of the Decade?

I would agree with that, it did become infamous to the point of being referenced in other media. Industry-wise GTA set free roaming / world mapping in video games as a new standard (true it was...

Re: Game of the Decade?

I like this idea, but most lists of this sort end up subjective to the audience. I prefer to think like Jack's original post. What *defines* not what's best.

Such a definition doesn't require...

Re: Download This!

Update on Final Fantasy / Darklord (I'm too lazy to make a new thread just for it)

I've plugged away at this game and I'm confident I'm more than half way though (plus side quests). The learning...

Re: A nice place to visit but...

Well said, Chi.
They can dress up the model structure in new clothes over and over but any gamer worth their salt can see repetition for what it is. The only time I acquiesce to such demands by the...

A nice place to visit but...

Impressions.

The old adage; "a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there", rings loud and clear with the newly rebuilt Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. For some fans of the SH...

Re: Download This!

Oh, and just for shits and giggles, I purchased FFC: My Life as a Darklord. Put an hour on it. Not as hard on the first chapter, but hit level 2 (out of six?) and the side quests ramp up. The...

Brad, much respect to you, bro.
You know I've always looked up to you and seeing the atrocious amount heaped on your plate nowadays only brings that respect higher.

I totally agree in regard to...

Speaking of Demos...

Since I'm killing time I decided to check out Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Dark Lord. Yeah that's a mouthful.

It's a defend-the-tower type game but with...

Re: Download This!

Good question.

Currently they have three free demos up, perhaps it will change if they offer more demos. Also, the demos are in the "New" section, so they haven't been up that long.

Re: Download This!

I'll contribute to this topic.

On a whim I purchased and downloaded NyxQuest WiiWare after playing the free demo.

It's a decent side scrolling platformer with a nod to Lost Winds and Kid Icarus...

Re: Download This!

Played the demo for NyxQuest - very much like Lost Winds.

I like that Nintendo are allowing FREE demo downloads - but they need to provide more titles, because this is where the benefits of...

Just for the hell of it I'm considering the download purchase. Also, since we're on the topic (too lazy to make another thread) I played the demo for NyxQuest, which has a similar feel to Lost...

Re: All I want for Black Friday is...

I don't know what I'm buying, but I've got a stack of bills burning a hole in my wallet with little passion to spend it.

I guess I need a game that will get me excited. Currently, even on Black...

Re: Cat Shit One is a must see

I can only hope it gets funding for an OAV or limited series. The anime, Cencoroll also started out as a promotional trailer just like this. A year later the OAV was released and it was worth the...

Re: Moon

I also really liked the film.

I'm a sucker for solid reality-based sci-fi. Don't get me wrong, I like the fantastic sci-fi (Star Wars, et.) but there's a special place in my heart for gritty...

While that is a very good standard definition I think Chi was really asking (in a round-a-bout way) what is the iPhone... for GameCritics.com (since he was in the process of building the forums at...
