Re: I want to start making indie games

I messed around with this a little a few years ago. For something relatively easy to use, check out Blender. It's a 3d modeling, rendering, animating program with a built-in game engine based on...

Re: Ebert says video games cannot be art

Now up to 2300 comments.

There's lots and lots of rebuttals, but I think this one is probably the best:

Ebert says video games cannot be art

http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2010/04/video_games_can_never_be_art.html

Roger Ebert, possibly the most famous American film critic alive, has long held that video games are not art, and in the...

Re: What of scientism?

Okay, I've read all the arguments here. What I don't understand from the CS Lewis-insprired proof is how "thinking" and natural processes are exclusive of one another. This assumes that human...

Re: Colonel T: Parent-to-Be

My wife and I are also expecting a child...around April 23rd. Just the one though. We had a sonogram last week, and it's a girl as well.

My wife is mortified by the thought of having a child...

Re: Ebert just cannot let go.

Yeah, and because of Ebert's high profile, it's generated a whole lot of discussion everywhere, which I think is pretty healthy. My two cents, which essentially paraphrases compelling points that...

Re: 360 First Impressions: Not Impressed

A couple of thoughts:

I played King Kong on the 360 today, and I was impressed with the graphics. His healthy, lustrous coat of fur looked pretty damn good to me. I don't think I was $300...

Re: Armoured core 2: another age

I used to own this a while ago (not any more), and I believe the answer to all of your questions is Y-E-S, except for question 3, which is more of a short answer:

I think the replayability is...

Re: "Intellgent Design" victory in Kansas

Why you be hatin on Kansas? Speaking from my viewpoint as a Kansan, to say all Kansans are idiots is akin to saying that all Americans are idiots for re-electing George W. Clearly, not all Kansans...

Re: War of the Worlds

He means getting a boner.

What disappointed me about this movie is that it borrowed heavily from Signs, which all in all I thought was a better movie. Signs of course was highly derivative of the...

Re: Tom Cruise speaks out: Scientology good, Psychiatry bad.

Tom Cruise's disdain for psychiatry clearly stems from him being a homosexual. He is so gay.

But I can relate to his mistrust of the profession. My limited experience with mental health...

Re: Great Damn Hollywood Fightscenes (With swords or without)

There is also a Bruce Lee movie whose name escapes me where he fights Kareem Abdul Jabar. That fight is pretty wicked, if for no other reason than the shear size difference between the two.

Maybe...

Re: Science, Religion Collide in Kansas Debate

This thread has everything to do with mixing apples and oranges. Religion/philosophy/whatever has nothing whatsoever to do with science. Whether there are inadequencies with evolutionary theory or...

Re: Science, Religion Collide in Kansas Debate

I don't even know why this is a question for anyone who isn't trying to be contrary. Science expounds a theory and verifies it through experiment. The key here is that experimental verification...

Re: Question & Answer

The only one I can remember vividly off the top of my head is the one with Zack Attack the rock band, where they become rich and famous and the whole thing is told in a mock Behind the Music type...

Re: Question & Answer

Never even heard of it. But once I was coerced into chewing some chiclets, or what I believed to be chiclets, which were in fact chewable laxatives.

What movie makes you cry every time you see it?

Re: NO!!! you will not have recreational sex, not if i have anything to do about it!!

There are doctors who won't prescribe birth control pills. I believe the new Senator-elect in Oklahoma is one such physician.

Also, homosexuality was considered a diagnosible psychological...

Re: A Divided Nation? Questions for Bored Memebers

I think the cultural divide will continue to grow over the next four years as the President will appoint possibly up to four new supreme court justices (as I've heard some say). The Republicans have...

Re: A Divided Nation? Questions for Bored Memebers

I am a graduate student, so most of the people around me--whether faculty or other students--are like-minded left-leaning types. But I'm also in the midwest, so outside the bubble of the university...

Re: back on topic...

The fact is news shows are entertainment. On the whole, they sensationalize and fear-monger so that viewers will watch and thereby increase the show's advertising revenue. This is not a revelation....
