Re: E3 2008: Sony missing clear vision for PlayStation 3

What does it matter if a game is an established franchise? The Wii versions of both outsold the 360 and PS3 versions. Thus the comment I was replying too was incorrect.

As for Zack and Wiki, it...

Re: E3 2008: Sony missing clear vision for PlayStation 3

You couldn't be more wrong about the Wii. Most months it is moving more software than either the PS3 or the 360 according to NPD.

For example last month's NPD showed that both Lego Indiana Jones...

Re: Which company had the best showing at E3 2008?

I concur that they were all pretty bad.

Microsoft, with the exception of the FFXIII megaton, had nothing new and exciting to show off, with the exception of their horrible casual games.

Re: What Does the 360's Price Drop Mean to You?

The poll is nonsensical.

This isn't a price drop. They're merely clearing out the 20 gig models to make way for the new 60 gig premium which will still be $350.

Re: FF13 on Xbox 360

Most RPGs will probably stay on the DS or just not be developed at all.

PS3 is barely more viable than the 360 in Japan. At least the 360 has strong American software sales to fall back on.

Re: FF13 on Xbox 360

FFXIII is launching day and date on the 360 in America and Europe. This was a major coup for Microsoft. They've already lost Japan, but then again so has Sony.

Re: FF13 on Xbox 360

Sony must be pissed.

So much for PS3 fans constant "wait for FFXIII". I don't really know what Sony can do to gain ground in America now that almost every big title is multi-platform.

Re: EGM's MGS4 Review Scoring

Agreed. While I almost never use reviews to decide what games to play, I now find that I rarely even read reviews for major releases anymore.

Too many magazines and websites are either blinded by...

Re: N'Gai's MGS4 essay

Every time this RE5 shit comes up on any message board, I'm baffled.

How can anyone have watched the RE5 trailer and not cringed? A white dude mowing down a bunch of "savage" Africans.

Do I...

Re: Good Luck to Third Parties trying to make Wii Games

This thread, with the exception of Brad's comment, is pathetic.

Zack and Wiki has sold north of 300,000 copies worldwide hardly a flop for such a niche title that wasn't promoted at all. I'm sure...

Re: Where the GTA4 scores really came from

Played the first few hours at a friends. I also watched him play some of the later missions.

Even if I hadn't played a second of it my experiences with the other five 3D GTA games, as well as...

Re: Where the GTA4 scores really came from

There have been so many of these absurd comparisons surrounding GTAIV. N'Gai Croal compared GTA to the Sopranos in Newsweek and the author of the Onion AV club review also made a Wire comparison.

Re: Why Kojima, why

Ok, maybe my post was a wee bit harsh.:)

I just hate the cutscenes and awful codec conversations in the MGS games. MGS2 is still the only game I ever got so bored/annoyed with that I just started...

Re: Why Kojima, why

Poor analogy. Lord of the Rings has a passable story (for an epic fantasy) whereas the cutscenes and overall story in MGS games are shit on a stick.

Shawn Elliot's (R.I.P. GFW) dismissal of Metal...

Re: NPD: April 2008 (GTA4 sales)

Well Sony and Microsoft, you had a nice run.

So much for a GTAIV hardware bump. Better luck next generation. :)

Re: Ninja Gaiden DS Impressions

I tried the demo last night (downloaded it from the Nintendo channel on the Wii) and it seemed fun.

I'm waiting for it to drop in price before I pick it up.

Re: Early GTA4 reviews and impressions

Yeah sorry about that, my post was definitely pretty douchebaggy. I've just been seeing tons of anti-Juno segment all over the internet lately and a large portion of it seems kinda misogynistic. It...

Re: Early GTA4 reviews and impressions

Oh it's definitely more than just GTA4. GTA4 is just the latest example. A game like Mario Galaxy, my personal favorite game of last year, suffers from the exact same overscoring review problems. ...

Re: Early GTA4 reviews and impressions

Ok looked them up on Metacritic. Godfather has one review that's an 80, Superman II has a 90 and two 88's, Army of Shadows has three 90's and two 75's, while Pan's Labyrinth has ~10 scores that are...

Re: Early GTA4 reviews and impressions

Ok, look up No Country For Old Men on Metacritic. It has a stellar overall score of 91, but also has some scores in the 75 range and even a 50 and a 30.

All I'm asking for is some diversity of...

Re: Early GTA4 reviews and impressions

The problem is obvious. Look up GTA on metacritic then look up a critically acclaimed film.

Notice the difference?

Even a greatly loved film usually has some bad, or at least lukewarm,...

Re: Early GTA4 reviews and impressions

Idiotic misogyny on a video game forum.

I'm shocked.

Videogames would kill to have a script as well written as Juno, and it wasn't even that good.

Re: Broad Wii audience leads to low attach rate

Don't you guys get it? Vgchartz is a fraud. Their internally generated sales numbers are entirely inaccurate guesswork, which they "adjust" (read: correct) when NPD numbers are released each month....

Re: Broad Wii audience leads to low attach rate

You guys realize that you're arguing over a bunk article with faulty stats right?

Vgchartz is a fraud and that's why their numbers are banned from being used at NeoGaf.

This article in addition...
