E3 2013
The Microsoft conference was okay. They could have at least shown Killer Instinct at the Xbone reveal to ease some of the pain.

I was never an Insomniac fan, so having them as an Xbox exclusive is not a big deal. I'll keep my eye on their new game though.

Titanfall (ex CoD team) looks okay, not great.

Nothing worth $500 yet. I think their conference helped out a little, but doesn't make up for all the bad baggage that comes along with the system.

Mirror's Edge 2 is the only thing worthwhile from EA's conference. Can't wait for that one.

Re: E3 2013
PS4 has no always online requirement, doesn't block used games, costs 100$/€/ less, doesn't violate your privacy, has no region lock and does look slightly less awful. Oh, and the disc you bought implies ownership and isn't a voucher for a digital copy loaned from the publishers. Why anyone would still want a xboxone over this, I can't comprehend.

Dark Souls 2 - trailer music was shite, game still top of my watchlist, speaking of watch:
Watch Dogs - still looks sweet, still runs on current-gen consoles
Rayman Legends - Origins was a blast, legends looks great again, also current gen
Galak-Z - almost overlooked this indie gem, topdown open space shooter... the only next gen-only game in my yay-list lol
Titanfall - CoD crossed with Hawken? Looks promising, if it's something worth putting money down for I'm getting the PC version though.

Ryse - more ryse of QTE combat? Apparently the demo was 'misrepresenting' combat and the actual game has less focus on QTE. Well, all I saw were X and Y-prompts hovering over the battlefield and an awkward spear-throwing competition. Overwhelming thought: "please show another Dark Souls 2 trailer instead!"
Killer Instinct - perhaps it was just the awful scripted 'smack talk' on stage, but that just left me cold.

rest I'm indifferent or wait for more information.

Re: E3 2013
Looking at the big lists of games, nothing really excites me.

I'm very happy that Sony seem to be adopting the Indies with gusto - Octodad, for heaven's sake! The cynical side of me is thinking that they need these games for PS+ to get through its first year, but still...they are walking the walk.

I honestly can't figure out Microsoft's reasoning - take on all the risk from the publishers, and for little reward. Did they actually get anything good from EA in return?

Sony playing it a bit smarter; at least users can choose whether or not to buy DRM-heavy games.

All those shooters and gore-fests look awful.

Abfackeln, anything good from the Nintendo show today? *vomits* :p

I can't believe that MS would believe that they can sell the Xbone for $500. What were they thinking?

Have you seen this? Dunno why this is being reported on- it's exactly the same as how the PS3 works, if I understand correctly.

I don't understand Microsoft right now. Even mainstream media like the BBC are reporting about it's dodgy business model. They want the Wii audience but at an iPad price, delivering to the regular tv consumer what apple tv already does. They cut off a big portion of potential customers with their always-online requirement and take away the sense of ownership from disc based games for cynical corporate gain.

Oh, and let's not forget...

PR disasters along the way. Even without Sony having a go at them...

This "console war" starts with one opponent stuck in the mud of it's own misguided ambition, sitting on a dead horse. While I didn't see much difference between PS3 and 360, this time there seems a clear philosophical difference. Sony wants to get gamers on their side and delivers a game console, because they believe in games as a medium. Microsoft wants to be the entertainment hub and have sports, television and blockbuster games.

Nitzer Ebb is actually one of my all time favorite groups :p. i was pretty excited to hear them in the trailer. Maybe a little too pop for you in a Dark Souls trailer.

The theme of the trailer is "Undone" and he says "again and again I come back" which fits into to dyeing and respawning pretty well.

Some classic Nitzer Ebb:

Games worth mentioning so far:

The Order 1886

Pretty much everything Nintendo showed off is exciting to me even if it is the same old franchises. The new Xeno game has me most excited:

The Division:

I like Daft Punk or Gorillaz, but they would have no room in a Dark Souls trailer ;)

I was being overly negative, of course. And after the Bartholowmew trailer I gather it's difficult to find a more suitable piece of trailer music for Dark Souls.

You might make it, boy, but by the skin of your teeth

The Division looks like something I'd see myself playing in co-op. However, another game where I think "we wouldn't need next-gen for that".

I think we are all on edge about them messing up the new Dark Souls ;)

You're right about The Division. I am just itching for a new third person shooter.

Re: E3 2013
GameTrailers did an awesome job highlighting the E3 conferences. The Killer Instinct presentation taken out of context is priceless.

Re: E3 2013

Cops on segways shutdown Ouya's makeshift parking lot booth. This has been the best E3 in years just because of these moments.

I was thinking that I could download Sony's E3 press conference off of PSN, but they haven't made a video available yet. The quality of the conference made available through Spike, Game Trailers and Youtube haven't exactly been all that great. :(
