New People, Please Introduce Yourselves

It's really nice to see some new folks here. Please tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? What do you do for a living? What are your hopes and dreams?

I think it would be nice for this to be a sticky.

I guess I'll start. :D Qikdraw told me about this place on another forum, so I figured I'd check it out. I'm primarily a PC gamer, but I also own a 360. Oh, and I'm an absolute sports nut.

Thought I'd drop in and say hello :)

Been following Brad Gallaway for a while on Twitter and browsing the site a lot so it made sense.

I'm Jen, I'm a Brit (don't hold it against me :p) and 24.
My day job is working in Blockbuster (you can hold that against me ;)) while I finish up my Masters dissertation, and I also write for a few different gaming sites: mainly reviews but also some articles on a variety of different subjects.

I've got all the current generation consoles and game on my PC a bit although mainly just MMORPGs these days. Basically I'll play pretty much anything and everything but my favourite is the RPG genre.

Bit of a lurker on forums but I read plenty :)

Good to see some new posters! Hope more of you lurkers decide to join in the discussion. Being on GameCritics since 2001 (2000 maybe?) I can say it is one of my favorite sites anywhere on the web. It is the only site I post to on any regular basis and I always feel welcome on the forums. The regulars always provide a thoughtful, respectful conversation about videogames (and other topics should you so choose). So, once again, I hope more of you lurkers become regulars. Welcome!

Hi all,

I've been reading Gamecritics since the past 2 or 3 years and have finally decided to join the forums. I'm Portuguese and currently living in Spain. I've been playing games since my 5 years old and I'm particularly found of old school adventure games and all things Nintendo but I'm really eclectic. The last great game I played? Probably, Braid.

See you in the forums

@cheska You're a Pinay? Mabuhay. From what part of the Philippines did you come from?

@chezka do you speak Tagalog/Filipino/any of our languages?

I'm Eaps. I'm an opera singer (a tenor) and I have a day job where I work with Chi. He got me hooked up with the site.

I had to take a hiatus from any serious gaming over the last couple of years due to the singing training but now I'm getting a chance now that I'm a bit more settled down.

It's been great to follow the posts and discussions here. Glad to be a part of it!

In all seriousness though its great to see some new faces (Avatars?) floating around the place. And its great seeing new posts every day rather than once every few days.

Soooooo. All you guests, come play! We don't bite (Well Shun does sometimes, but we're training him up ;)) And welcome to all of the new members! This place is getting lively again and its great to see!

And now...I'm going back to the bar.

HI

DR.GAME@101 here. I'm here to prove that the PS2 will never die as long as you play awesome games. And that the PSP is a machine that's underated and it an amazing machine as long as you don't buy crappy games.

I have been made fun of because I don't have a PS3 but never slowed me down from showing everyone that PS2 and PSP are still cool. My goal is to become a game reviewer for IGN or Reviews on the Run (links below)

IGN: http://www.ign.com/
Reviews on the Run: http://www.reviewsontherun.com/

Notes:
- I'm not a Doctor
- I can't afford a PS3 so don't bother me

Hi,

My name is Ayush and I am from Zatun, a video game development company in India.

We have developed a 2D action adventure arcade game for PC titled – “ The Legend of Vraz ". This game was created using the Microsoft XNA framework and features an enthralling gameplay of 6-8 hours set in exotic locales.

We have our in-game videos and screenshots online at: http://zatungames.com/

Here's a marketing tip: introduce yourself to the community and participate in forums before pimping out your game. You'd get better results that way.

Re: New People, Please Introduce Yourselves

Hello, I've been browsing Gamecritics for a while, and have posted comments with the name Bryce (not my real name). I've been checking here often as it seems the only site with honest reviewers. I imagine the honesty has a lot to do with the mission of the reviews: state your personal opinion instead of trying to qualify what the masses should think of it. It seems an unpopular approach, though, from all the hate comments on reviews. :D I'm hoping to help the community where I can and possibly submit some reviews (Don't worry, my serious writing doesn't contain any parenthetical statements).

I have been a gamer since my parents brought King's Quest home for our new PC, though I didn't lock myself in the basement all night until the infamous Doom came out. I played that game, modded it, played it some more, dialed stranger's personal BBSs for an IPX emulator, then got banned from almost all of them for trash talking (Well, how else was I going to get a 3v1 going?). It is now 15 later, and thanks in part to crippling allergies that didn't go away until I was 18, I got in a lot of gaming, mostly PC. My career has nothing to with gaming (the common tie between my career and gaming is probably my restlessness), but gaming will always be my #1 indoor hobby. I find myself becoming incredibly hard to please after 20 years, though.

Re: New People, Please Introduce Yourselves

I'm guilty of lurking I guess.

Thanks to the Halo 3 review I stumbled over this site and thanks to the Halo 3 review and some others I read then I decided to stick around a bit. Because of the writing and since I felt it refreshing to see a site using other numbers than 8, 9 and 9,5 to rate games.

I'm currently only having a PC and a DS to play on, using it mainly for WoW and Professor Layton respectively. I'm still too cheap to buy a PS, not because the PS would be too expensive but because I don't have a TV, therefore I would have to buy one as well...

I live in the Netherlands and do my PhD in electrical engineering here (about 1 more year to go).

The whole doing PhD is the reason not buying a telly, since that would be a huge timesink for me and I'm already busy restraining myself from playing too much on the computer (I should cancel WoW again I guess).

Noob here from California. My roommates and I have a PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. Clearly, we have an addiction.

I'm actually trying to cut down on my time gaming (gasp)...and so I joined this forum to hopefully learn how to choose how to spend my gaming time more wisely.

Hi everyone.

First of all, i'm from Austria, so my english will not be the best you've ever seen. Nevertheless i will try to contribute some posts here and you will hopefully help me if i phrase something totally wrong.

I'm going towards 30, though still some years in my twenties.
I started gaming with a NES. Afterwards followed by every console Nintendo had to offer, except Virtual Boy (may god rest his soul:p ), additionally a Master System i got gifted from a friend.
Since Colin2 i kind of shifted from console to PC-gamer. The PC robs the most of my free time.
Anyhow wii and PS3 are there to "waste" some extra time with.

I don't like J-RPGs, every other genre has my interest.
With growing age and own game history increasingly more games can not live up to the hype mainstream sites want me to believe in.

So i registered because i like this sites unconventional approach on scores and the epic discussions in conveying the stupidity on belief in the right score instead of arguments.

Both I'd say, but mainly I needed a change of scenery after studying in Graz. And beside the terrible weather and horrible food it's pretty awesome here. Also I have to debunk the myth that someone from Tirol will never be happy in the Netherlands because of the lack of mountains ;)

Hello,

My name is Dale and I've been an avid gamer since the olde days, before the archaic form was subordinated by 'old,' therein the 80's. I just stumbled on this site and am glad to have found a niche of mature (in gaming context) gamers.

Coincidentally, I am recovering from a long break from gaming brought about by encroaching social imperatives and a growing disillusionment with current-era gaming. This site has already done its share in reviving my love of games. Nice to meet you all.

Hey everyone, I'm new so that's why I'm posting.

Been playing games all my life, starting off on a C64 then on to an Amiga. Got a Playstation many years later, bought a PS2, now I have a PS3. I've taken games seriously for a long time, ever since Flashback and Out of this World (it has another title too, but can't remember), and Adventure games etc. I live in New Zealand, and I give a shoutout to anyone who's near or lives in NZ.

Peace.

One of my favorites. I didn't get very far in Out of this World. I need to give it another shot.

Welcome to the boards.

I'm 29 years old, I live in ohio and recently got married. I work in the medical field and still enjoy playing video games when I have the time. I'm sure I'd be considered a Nintendo fanboy because I've owned the SNES, N64, Gamecube, DS, and Wii. My fondest video game memories involved the Atari with my siblings (we weren't allowed to play video games so the system only came out when my parents were gone). Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess have to be at the top of my list of favorite games. Glad to be on here and I look forward to all the messaging in the future!

Hey all, I'm Hayley - another Brit. I've been a gamer for the majority of my life but am primarily a Playstation girl :P As you'd expect, I own the PS3 but no other next-gen consoles I'm afraid... sadly I don't have the attention (or money xD) to give to another at the moment.

Anyhow, I'm 19 and will eventually be off to uni. I hope to work my way into videogame journalism some day, though I realise that it's quite a while away yet.

Nice to be part of gamecritics.com :)

I bought my first game system since I was given an Odessy PONG in the 70's. I went out and got myself a 250 gig PS3 and hooked it up to all my new stuff ie Sony Bravia TV, 1000 watt surround system, numerous controllers.I had no idea how addictive this would be, WOW! I Love It!
