Training modes aside, Virtua Fighter 4 comes with the standard arcade and versus modes, but there is a new mode called Kumite. The Kumite is essentially a survival mode where you take on a non-stop onslaught of combatants of differing degrees of difficulty. Virtua Fighter 4 allows players to create duplicates of themselves to take into the Kumite mode. Upon defeating these opponents, you can unlock up to 400 items hidden throughout the game. These items can range from custom hairstyle to new poses for your fighter to motor cycle helmets. Other items like powerful new attacks are only available once certain goals are met. It has even been reported that the original fighters from Virtua Fighter 1 characters are in the game waiting to be unlocked. It’s unknown at this time whether you can actually use them or simply compete against them in Kumite mode.
