Once a staple in the Virtua Fighter series, it is now much harder to hit an opponent while he or she is down. Previously, when opponents hit the ground, you had an opportunity to do even more damage rather quickly by pouncing on them. Now when an opponent falls, he or she can recover much faster narrowing the window of opportunity. Throws play a more integral part of the gameplay, but are balanced by reversals that are easier to pull off and quicker recovery time after a throw.
