The story mode is the centerpiece of the game. Here you can experience the game's winding story, but it also allows for a good deal of character customizations to be exploited in the other game modes. At the end of every stage, players earn upgrade points that can be used to purchase new techniques or increase abilities such as health and attack power. This is then saved to the memory card and can be used to take on friends in the multiplayer modes.
