Can an open-ended RPG such as Morrowind compete on a game console? That is the million-dollar question because it has never really been attempted before. The closest thing console gamers might have is Dragon Warrior, but many would argue that this still pales in comparison to the open-ended and customizable nature of the PC RPG. In any case, it's hard to argue that Microsoft has scored a huge windfall by securing exclusivity rights for this release. The Elder's Scrolls name carries a lot of weight in the industry and is expected to make waves upon its release. With the RPG situation on the Xbox what it is today, Microsoft and Bethesda can’t be blamed for giving this PC gaming franchise a home on the Xbox console.
