Where Morrowind takes a hit is the news that unlike the PC version, the Xbox release will lack The Elder Scrolls Construction Set. The Construction Set would have allowed players to use basically the same tools the developers used to create the game and extend the playing experience once the game is completed or becomes stale. By way of user-created plug-ins, the gameplay could be extended or enhanced by adding new items, characters, dungeons, and other areas to explore. This may be a blow to The Elder’s Scrolls-loving Xbox owners, but chances are few console gamers will miss it. Though admittedly feasible due to the Xbox hard drive, Bethesda has made it clear that the editor will not ship with the game’s initial release. However, it may be available for download next year since the Xbox’s broadband service should be in full swing by then.
