After a short dalliance with a four-member party setup, Squaresoft has reduced that number to three. The difference here is that despite the limitation of three characters, other characters will be able to join you in battle. Characters will be able to rotate in and out of the party like a tag team. This should add an interesting dynamic to the already tired turn-based fighting system.
