The female lead, Yuna, is a Summoner. In fact, her entire family are Summoners with her father being none other than a greatly respected High Summoner. Naturally, she resents her lineage and hopes to escape her responsibilities. But such flights of fancy are soon cast aside once she starts having disturbing, reoccurring dreams, which she believes are caused by an evil force known only as Sin. It's while traveling the world, visiting temples and learning how to summon the Aeons (powerful spirits of yore) that she runs into Tidus. They decide to band together—with Tidus taking the role of bodyguard—as she searches for ways to destroy the force of nature known as Sin.
