Protesting, but also buying...
EDGE Online is one of many outlines reporting that Spore is a hit. There isn't a breakdown of platforms so it could be that a lot of PC gamers simply stole the game while console gamers put out the brunt of the money EA took in.
At any rate it still shows that a good game can overcome some really negative press at launch. That, or it could show that the bad press was just exaggerated by sympathetic members of the gaming press.
Now, I'm really looking forward to a breakdown of these sales figures. September NPDs should be released in a few days.
