Although it's been a long time since I posted anything on my blog, it has always been my intention to return to it, and in the coming months I hope to be able to add new entries with some regularity. Where have I been? Well, over the past couple years, I have been buried under a combination of full-time work, taking evening classes, commuting 2 hours every day, and volunteering so that I could maintain the responsibilities of a working adult while preparing for medical school.
My life is still quite busy of course, and since I'll be starting medical school next year I expect it to remain that way for a long time. I am under no illusions about the demands that will be placed on my time. But even though I'll still be very busy, I expect my life to become somewhat less complicated. Once I make the shift, I won't be juggling full-time work with school, I won't have daily 2 hour commutes, and I'll have a lot more flexibility in how I can manage my various responsibilities.
Throughout the past couple years I've still been keeping a close watch on most of the major developments in the video game industry. From the sidelines, I've maintained an interest in the evolving technological, artistic, and educational potential of this medium, not to mention the obvious entertainment value that it provides. As I embark on my new career path, I remain as fascinated as ever by the positive potential of games, even as my free time to experience them has decreased.
With that said, I'll just finish by saying that there are many things I plan to explore in this space, and I look forward to sharing with this community after such a long hiatus. I hope that my perspective will be a welcome addition to the larger conversation.
