Overwhelmed with downloads!

So now that I have a functioning (for the moment) 360 back in the house, I spent some time catching up on all the DL stuff I missed over the last month or so. Of course, while it was gone I was spending time catching up with all the PS3 stuff. Anyway, I've talked about some of this stuff earlier, but whatever... it's overview wrapup time!

Defining "last generation"

I had a comment and/or question regarding my use of the phrase "rooted in the last generation" and what exactly that meant. To be honest, I think it's a little bit lazy of me to use that phrase often because it's shorthand for a couple different things. I apologize for my lack of specificity, and no, that's not sarcasm.

PixelJunk Eden and Folklore impressions

I downloaded PixelJunk Eden today for $10 from the PlayStation Store, and after one session, I'm not regretting the purchase. The visuals have a definite minimalist flair and the audio is laid-back ambient techno sort of stuff. The presentation definitely works for me.

Tera Patrick's voice won't add much to Saint's Row 2

In yesterday's GameDaily, there was a brief report that porn star Tera Patrick will be providing one of the voices in the upcoming Saints Row 2. I had to scratch my head a little on this one... I'm all for quality voice work in games and I think it adds a lot when it's done well, but to be perfectly honest, I could care less about having a recognizable "name" in my games.

Casual Connect Report – Part Two

The next day at Casual Connect, I had less time to go to presentations since my schedule was split between general events and meetings. However, the highlight of the presentations I did manage to take in was most definitely "", given by Brian Robbins of Fuel Industries.

Casual Connect Report – Part One

July 23 was the first day of the conference taking place in my hometown of Seattle, Washington. With the ‘c-word' on everyone's lips and this large new segment of game development gathering so close to my house, how could I resist?

The top 10 GameCube games according to me

If there's one thing gamers love, it's top 10 lists. I started with the original Xbox, and now I'm moving on to the GameCube. Like Microsoft's black beast, the GameCube is well and truly "dead". So, having tried any and everything that caught my eye and with no new games coming down the pipe, this is my definitive list of personal picks.

Princess Debut hype

I don't usually do straight PR, but this game caught my eye for obvious reasons... It's not everyday you see a game featuring a female character trying to net a boyfriend through the art of ballroom seduction.

Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard impressions

I’m in the middle of Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard on the DS right now, and I’ve got to say that it’s one hell of a game.

No wonder McDonald's is king

So is it true that most gamers only want better graphics and more-of-the-same gameplay? Many industry heads think so, and evidently there's a pretty good number of gamers out there who are pretty eager to agree with them.
