Eugene Park was born and raised on the Pacific Island of Guam. Despite the distance from mainstream culture, videogames were still able to find him. On his 6th birthday, Gene's grandmother bought him the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System along with a dozen games, and has since harbored a great fascination with videogames. Games grew to be more than a hobby, much to the detriment of his vision and social aptitude. That soon changed.
During high school, Gene discovered girls, booze, rock 'n' roll and most importantly, writing. Gene became an intern for the Pacific Daily News, a Gannett newspaper, and trained to become a journalist. Since then, Gene has interned at the Orange County Register and the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, along with graduating from California State University Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism.
Gene moved back to Guam and became the business reporter for the Pacific Daily News. After eight months on the job, he was promoted to the assistant news editor position. GameCritics.com helps him to strengthen his creative writing skills and to gain respectability as a writer. But he also sees it as journey to discover what makes the great distraction that is videogames so compelling.
